I received the H388 update overnight. Anyone know what was fixed / updated / enhanced ?
Comercial skip work. The biggest callout in this release is enabling recording capability on Live Streaming Channels on the Hopper/Joeys. The Wally is not included in this.
Two things to note:
- You can record one at a time
- You cannot transfer these recordings to EHD
Other improvements are for general stability of the box.
I thought that there were always problems with using the 40.0 and the Hopper Plus. Am I misremembering this?Nice additions.
Unfortunately, looks like all the problems I reported on the previous few releases are still there. Plus a couple more. As of today, the Play and Pause buttons on my 40.0 remotes are no longer functional.
Mrs. Pepper has told me this is the last straw for the Hopper Plus and I am to disconnect it and get her DVR back to how it used to be. I only hope the 40.0 remote is still functional with the H+ removed. Will find out shortly. The ability to cast facebook video from phone occasionally was nice but not worth all this extra hassle on a daily basis.
Yes, there were always a few problems but now there are more. As long as I've had the H+, only the red button of the four colored buttons works, though the colored indicators are still there on the screen implying that the green and yellow buttons should work, but they don't. Also the record button wouldn't do anything. All those functionalities had to be found as options after pressing the red button.I thought that there were always problems with using the 40.0 and the Hopper Plus. Am I misremembering this?

There are no compatibility issues with the 40 remote with the standard Hopper 3. It's just the Hopper+ that introduces them.I have been using 40.0 remotes with an H3 (WITHOUT Plus) for a few months now without any problems ....
Yes, and those incompatibilities just get worse with each new iteration. There are no compatibility issues with the 40 remote with the standard Hopper 3. It's just the Hopper+ that introduces them.
I don't know if it's just me but I do have one 54 remote and since this new update using voice pretty much doesn't work. Which is the only reason I have the 54.Yes, there were always a few problems but now there are more. New with this week's releases is the Play and Pause buttons not working. They worked yesterday. I found this out while rewinding something and watching it just keep going back while I pounded on the play button. The dish developer team made me cuss again.
I did just discover that the remote mode reminder "Press SAT" ignoring the setting is H+ specific, it is working again after removing the H+.
Wouldn't the record one at a time cause another problem such as this:The biggest callout in this release is enabling recording capability on Live Streaming Channels on the Hopper/Joeys. The Wally is not included in this.

Yes. As you may recall there were a few threads on this when the plus came out. BOTH Scott G and I reported that we knew people at Dish that made it clear that there was very little interest in making the plus compatible with the 40.There are no compatibility issues with the 40 remote with the standard Hopper 3. That would be unacceptable, it's my decision of how my capped internet data is used, not Dish. With a family of five, if our TV viewing were to be steaming only, I would blow through Comcast's monthly data cap in no time, and I refuse to pay an addition 30% premium for unlimited data. And since Comcast is the only ISP choice in my area, I also have to play the yearly "threaten to cancel" game with them to keep their annual price hikes to a minimum.I expect, in time this streaming feed mode will replace sat feed mode for people with highspeed internet (urban). And leave sat feed mode for people without highspeed internet (rural). Using the same equipment for both feed modes.
Understanding, this is a work in progress, I'm not in a hurry to give up 16+ simultaneous tuners/timers.
Yes, I am spoiled.
I set timers without regard for conflicts or overlaps.
I watch mostly from local dvr to skip commercials and other hopper features.
BUt, I appreciate I can now record some of the classics on these streaming channels.
