Well, it's Monday evening, and HBO still hasn't made the latest episode of Real Time with Bill Maher available on their Amazon channel. From reading reviews, apparently it is a crap shoot for when episodes of shows get added. Not exactly a good experience for the people who are signing up for trials.

While some people will switch to Direct or some other means to get HBO I think the longer people go without it more and more of them will decide they like having a lower bill and there was not a lot worth watching on it anyway and just cancel it when it does come back as they can live without it.

$107.00 looks a lot better this month than $122.00. Next week is the last episode of Real Time for the season and Boxing is done so se la vie to HBO. I watched Real Time on YouTube with no issues this week so se la vie to HBO Now, too.

I'll give Showtime a spin for awhile

Do you get commission for every subscriber you get? Because if not, why are you lurking in a dispute thread, in the Dish forum, attempting to persuade members to switch to DirecTV?

Also, what would the members in the DirecTV forum be saying if someone was in a dispute thread over there, attempting to persuade members to switch to Dish?

Finally, do you realize that you are illustrating my argument about this being a ploy for AT&T to artificially inflate DirecTV's value? Here you are as a representative of DirecTV, coming to a place specifically for Dish subs to talk about matters concerning Dish, and you're basicly saying "don't worry that the company I work for pulled a property owned by us from your provider. Just drop your provider and switch to my provider for better deals, and you'll get what we took from you to begin with."

You just provided a great example of why I'm saying AT&T is wrong in this matter. Right out of the mouth of one of their own employees!

That right there is the prime ethical issue in this dispute. "Well, Dish doesn't want to play ball, so let's pull the networks and tell people to switch to our provider." And we wonder why I say extorsion. "Pay us, or we'll take your subscribers." Its unethical for the same owner of a major network to also own a distribution system. Because these networks are used as means to devalue competitors in cases like this.

Well that's my issue with Claude's posts. Not that Claude is entitled to his voice and position. It's that Claude has a vested interest in the success of DirecTV. He makes personal gains off the promotion and growth of DirecTV. So, it's more likely that he will tow the company line. That becomes a biased position. It is a solicited position. Meaning, that whatever Claude states, it is expected that it will favor DirecTV, even if its found that DirecTV uses a furnace that they throw live cats into to power their uplink centers, Claude will more than likely speak positively of DirecTV, because he's in business with them. And yes, that is a wild statement as we all do agree that DirecTV doesn't do that.

That's the issue here. Claude comes here and starts sharing his position, a position made by an employee of one of the two disputing parties. Let's say that Mitch from DIRT started posting his opinions in this thread. That would also be a biased and solicited position, because he would be speaking in a manner to promote Dish and denounce DirecTV. And, he would benefit from Dish growing.

So, I encourage Claude to share his opinion. Just know, that each statement he makes on this matter only illustrates the attitudes of AT&T, his employer or business partner. His end game isn't to get everyone not involved to see his opinion, but rather to take subscribers from Dish over to DirecTV (from where he personally gains profit), using a an issue where his employer/business partner pulled a property that resulted in the dispute to begin with.

The same could be said about the many DISH reps who post here every day. They definitely have a vested interested in the success of DISH. I value what they say, but also understand that they represent the company. I find Claude's posts mostly humorous, but to each his own.

Once in a while I am willing to purchase a membership here and then Claude comes along and does his trash talking on Dish.

I don't give a squat about his history with Dish.

Why in the world would I want to pay to help him stay in business here?

Dish , DirecTV. Wow. Both offer special discounts to new customers to lure them away from the competition. And they are both somewhat successful, which is one reason why so many of us have been with both companies at one time or another. In a small nutshell, Dish has a better DVR, DirecTV has better picture quality. Dish does not have HBO and Cinemax, DirecTV does not have The PAC-12 Network. Pricing is similar and nobody likes either companies customer service. Both have carraige disputes and both raise their rates. One shared sentiment by both Satellite provides, Cable sucks.

Your membership pays to keep the site running and helps take care of the staff who moderate it. Claude is not an employee of Satelliteguys

This is a help site for fellow satellite customers and enthusiasts. Claude's posts, no matter how humorous they may be, are doing a disservice to the intent of this site, providing misleading and overly biased misinformation that new and even casual long-term members have to sift through to get to the truth. I know Claude is a long-time valued member here, and I met him in person and is a nice guy, but please Claude, your antics are not welcome here and are getting old and detrimental.

I agree. Comments like "My HBO works fine" and "Come over to Directv we have some good specials" are inappropriate and detrimental to the mission of this forum. It needs to stop. I suppose the moderators are probably afraid to do anything since he's a lifetime member, but I think something needs to be done.

Trust me, members have been banned for lesser things. I'm hoping Scott Greczkowski or one of the other staff members will step up and say something.

Indeed that is true. But two things to keep in mind.

1.) Do those Dish reps post their opinions about disputes between Dish and DirecTV in the DirecTV forums and promote offers to switch companies?

2.) Am I in the Dish forum or DirecTV forum all that often to know about the Dish reps?

I'm not calling for Claude to end what he is doing. Claude has not been a troll or instigator from what I see. He's been helpful countless times in both forums, in other threads. In this situation, he is speaking from his perspective. In my opinion, he's entitled to his position. What I am calling for is that everyone understand Claude's position in these debates. He's not representing a customer or fan of DirecTV, but an employee. Intelligent members should spot that and know to take his posts as that of someone who's line of work is with DirecTV. That's all. Let him make his posts.

I disagree. He is a representative of ATT trying to win customers from this forum. I think that's inappropriate and contrary to the mission of this site.
