HD DVD for $199 at compusa?

I saw this in the ad and went online to see what it was and from the looks of things its an HD DVD player that supports divx as well as standard formats for $199.99. Problem is that it only has component output. Would that deliver true 1080i resolution? Any thoughts? The link is below.

My LP2 outputs 1920x1080i over component. ALso upconverts commercial DVD to 1080i over component. (because I have an early model that supports it and didnt upgrade the firmware) You cant play HD DVD disks but you can play HD-DVD that you create yourself. IOdata does sell another model under the JVC label that upconverts over HDMI or DVI. It is an indispensible piece of equipment for those with network HD storage such as the Infrant boxes.

This player,and the Snazio player was around long before the HD-A1. It can also stream any HD material you have from servers, computers etc.

Regardless of all it's nice features, it will not play retail HD-DVD and by having that in the CompUSA ad it is "attempting" to create sales by confusing non-savvy buyers like you into thinking it DOES function like the HD-A1. I didn't say it wasn't a nice feature-set unit.

If you look at the compUSA specs it says it plays HD-DVD and it does. It does not play HD DVD. CompUSA is just using the specs as it should. The Official logo of the new format is HD DVD not HD-DVD. Not CompUSA's problem if the consumers are ignorant. THey should have named the new format HDVD (high definition video disk not HD DVD high definiton digital video disk)

Yup, and Toshiba and its pals knew the HD-DVD players were out there. Its just that they are obscure pieces of equipment that the typical consumer isnt going to purchase. So I guess they ignored them.

CompUSA is about the worst of the worst...This BS Statement proves it. Pure attempt to deceive...It will backfire when the stuff is returned!
1) sales people have NO knowledge of anything (really)
2) Prices are sometimes above List price
3) rebates sometimes have to be Chased after (but so are others!

In an emergency, I MIGHT be seen in a store (I am a computer consultant), but otherwise...NO WAY!
