HD locals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA timeframe??

Can one move as frequently as one wishes? I am originally from the Baltimore area and it would be cool to get the Baltimore sports then go back to Scranton in the off-season.

Which one of those signals show up as a Spotbeam on the point dish screen. That's the important part.

Looks like you are under this beam.. remember...the maps are not correct. They shifted them northeast. Are you sure TP 15 does not come in and lock to Spotbeam? Locking to Spotbeam is key on those.

TP 15 is NY locals. There is a good chance he won't get them in his location. I only get a about a 52 signal strength and I'm in extreme Eastern PA.

He is covered under Spotbeam 4 .
Spotbeam 3 the one he needs doesn't cover his area as it should.
His Strengths Show this.
He Gets the following Spotbeams
5,9,11,13
Thats
Washinton DC,Baltimore MD,Philadelphia,and Baffalo NY.
If He had a Signal strenth on TP 7,and 15 He would be under spotbeam 3.
He Clearly is not. Thats the problem with central PA customers who fall in the Scranton DMA.
Johnstown Altoona could be an option if you switch to the 129, But again it all about signal strenth. Unless someone has this setup. We won't know for sure if its possible.

Too bad E* doesn't move that beam over further. But instead I think it has moved more North and East then this picture shows.

Don't let this map fool you though the 129 can't be had everywhere on this map like it shows, Too low on the horizon makes this unavailable in many locations across the NorthEast.
Eastern PA is one of them. Unless you live on top of a Mountain with a Wide open Vally under you I wouldn't risk it.

Well, she didn't get Dish to do it, she got Cedardale to do it. Dish wouldn't do anything -- although she says that before that, she threatened Dish with cancellation enough times that they gave her a monthly credit for not getting the channels. That's not an option for you if you just had it installed though.

If it doesn't lock as spotbeam then you can consider it 0 on the spotbeam transponders. It's just switch bleed over.

In my case, I've called dish and got credits on the bill, free movie chs, etc. But still no fix from them.
I emailed Hans Cedardale to see if they could give me a quote on an OTA antenna install. I could probably do it myself, but I need a new line ran as all my wires are diplexed to the max - so hooking it up via the exiting cable is not an option.

Also, if are any installers out there that could help me out, let me know and i'll give you some details and we could talk further.

Got reply from Hans Cedardale. Got the following information. I asked if she minded I passed along this info, and she didn't mind so here it is. Don't know if this is old news or not, so let me know.

Hi Scott,

I hope you are enjoying your Dish Network system. We do not do any off air antenna systems. I am not sure if South Side Service still offers off air antenna service. Many of our customers have success with a standard 4 bow antenna placed in their attic or above a garage, food for thought.

As for the larger dish, it is something that we have tried for our existing customers. I am not certain if the 30" dish would help in your area. Some good news is that Dish Network is launching Echo 14 in January. The satellite will be in launching/testing mode and should be operational by March. This launch is supposed to solve our areas issues with HD Locals. We are very hopeful!

Are they going to put the HD locals on both 119 and 61.5 in order to not have to change out any Eastern Arc dishes that have been put up in an area where they actually work? Sounds fishy to me.

So our locals are going to be on a satellite that covers this much area?

That's the only beam I can find that covers your DMA on E-14. Looking at some of the beams it looks like E-14 as larger beams planned for RSN coverage possibly. But that beam has several transponders on it. Some of them are directly in line with the transponders used for spotbeams today so it should go up on them rather quickly if the retailer is correct.

And yes, they will keep them on 61.5 and 119. There quite a few cities that are dual arcs.

The key is... do you have line of sight to 119?

I have a newbie question... I currently have two dishes, one pointed at 110 and one at 61.5 (I think). Once Echostar 14 goes into production, I presume I'd have to have the dish that's currently pointed at 61.5 pointed at 119 instead? Is that correct?
