Hi,
I have Dish 500 that is supposed to get 119 and 110 but I only receive 119 (signal +-123). It has been this way since it was first installed 6 months ago, I have never been able to receive a 110 signal. I have checked all the wiring in the house and checked with multiple receivers and everything in the house checks out fine. Since the installer is no longer available, can anyone point me in the right direction? (no pun intended) I'd hate to buy a new LNB, unless it's necessary.
Thanks,
Pam:)

First of all Welcome to SatelliteGuys:welcome

So are losing 110 on all receivers.
Did it just go out all at once?
If only one receiver try unscrewing the coax wire going to the dish and running a check switch and then hook it back up and run a check switch again.

Thanks................ I just found the Forum.
It has never come in on 110 since it was installed.
My gut feeling is that the problem lies in the original installation.

Disconnect the LNB from the Dish Arm and check to see if your 110 is connected. If it is connected and you are not getting the correct signal strength check the green bars in the Menu setting. If there is no signal strength, this means that your dish is not pointed in the right direction or your skew is off.

She will only be able to do that if she has an older dish type, and she stated she got it installed 6 months ago so that should be out of the question.

hey. can you give more info for example what does your check switch says when you do the test? how many receivers you have? if they all missing 110?

This is what the check switch says after it's tested.
1.
Sat. - 119
Polarity - All
Device: Twin

2. 3.
X X
X X
NC NC

I have three receivers and they all are in working order.... I appreciate the help!

All three receivers get 119 but no 110? This is strange, you have a Twin Lnb and three receivers. Do you know if you have a switch?

The Twin Lnb allows you to get 119 and 110 on two receivers or you can have 119in one cable run and 110 in the second cable run to feed a switch. From the switch you can feed a max. of 4 receivers.

Could that be the problem? If she has a Twin and a switch attached to it, could there be a conflict causing the failure of the 110 LNB?

I am unfamiliar with the DP switches and LNBs, but I know that this kind of connection with the Legacy switches is no good.

See ya
Tony

The problem is that the installer left without actually confirming everything was working.

You should call Dish and ask for a supervisor to complain about this. They will have someone out there right away. His "availability" claim is bunk, too. He needs to back up his work.

Randall,
Yes...there is a switch to which the 119 and 110 cables connect, that allows me to have 4 receivers.
It sounds like you have a Legacy system if your switch reports a Twin but a Twin can't run 3 receivers and a legacy Twin can't be connected to an external switch to give 4 receiver capability. The cheapest suggestion is sign up with DISH Notwerk for the Digital Home Protection Plan (DHPP) for $5.99/Mo. a service call will be $29.99 and anything that needs to be done is covered. After the problem is corrected you can cancel the DHPP and end up with an economical repair.:) :) :)

can you look in front of a dish, you looking what it says if it legacy twin it's going to have dish logo, if it is DP in big letters, or DP+ highly un-likely and see if there is anything in front of the dish

You must hit Details button on System Info screen and post all that data here, or make snapshot from that screen.
Not necessary go out and use binocular for reading DP logo :).

The most likely problem is that one of your LNB's has gone out. This is not an uncommon thing. If the dish is easily reachable changing out the LNB's is not hard at all. You should be able to purchase a new LNB from your local E* installer. If you are going to upgrade to the new HD services being offered in Feb. wait for the upgrade and let them fix it. You will probably be getting a new dish with new LNBs with the upgrade anyway. Good Luck

 Dish will only come out to my primary residence and the installer that put it in is MIA
This post sounds like you are doing account stacking. Having service at more than 1 address without paying for a separate account, DISH frowns on this read about the audit team.:(

Need a little help on the HD setup

Current Dish Sub's plan for 2/1
