Hi everybody, I am new to this forum and hopefully somebody can help me out

I live in Coquitlam, BC, Canada and would like to receive german tv stations via satellite. I don't know what kind of equipment I need. Maybe somebody knows of a good website with informations on there. Or there is a dealer out there(maybe in Canada) who can help me out?
I remember about 13 years ago a friend of mine in Germany had this great dish at home were he could receive stations from all over the world(all continents ). The receiver could store 333 channels and the dish had a motor on it. That's what I would like to have. Or is there a problem with NTSC and PAL?

I don't know anything about this so please explain things in detail to me.
Thanks in advance

welcome to the site new to it.

i am going to move this to the FTA area. we have the best fta info on the web. those guys in there will be able to help you out.

hope to see you around the site.

Hello and WELCOME to the SatelliteGuys.US FTA forum :welcome

Not much German TV FTA in this country but as you pointed out there are 100's of other channels up there! There are one or two (german) but they are on C-Band, thats the BIG dish you see around 6-10'
I also see DW is part time FTA on one channel!

You have found the right place to learn all about it here : )
Take your time and visit the review area and read all about the latest receivers and systems out there and feel free to ask any and all question here in this thread.

Here is a list of FTA channels from Germany..... most all of the satellites are over Europe and the signal does not come this far....

We even have a German member here who will I am sure be adding to this thread!

Being so far north I waould hold out for a one meter dish (or bigger) and the best LNBF you can find, most f the new receivers can store hundreds of channels and radio stations.

Thanks guys for the quick reply

1) You mentioned C-band, I don't know what that means.
2) You also quoted DW, I am not interested in DW since they only have 8 hours a day of programing, during the remaining 16 hours the german program is translated in spanish, english and I think italian.
3) I am interested in the channels ARD, ZDF, PRO7, SAT1, RTL etc.
If the signal is to weak to receive here(west coast Canada) is it possible to watch these channels via the internet?

As mentioned before my satellite tv knowledge is very little, be patient and explain very detailed please.

Thanks again
Martin

From the info I got so far it seems there is no way of me receiving the channels I am looking for. :(

Thats FTA, you take what you get! Today there maybe nothing tomorrow who knows!

I come for the UK and feel the same way, I would LOVE to get some more Euro channels but I have been lucky over the years getting to see many sporting events and feeds from the homeland! There is so much up there, always something worth viewing. I would keep checking the Lygnsat list often!
