OK, I have a ViP722. Today I was going get a Hopper w/ sling up grade today. The installer said he can not get the 129 bird and to get the hopper I will loose local programing.

On my 722 I am able to pick up all three sats. I have a Super Dish and a Dish 500. The new smaller dish won`t pick up enough signal he said. Its a much smaller dish and can`t pull in enough signal. I have trees in the way. When I asked why he can`t use the current setup I was told it won`t work with the Hopper.
Can anyone tell me if this is true? I can have it installed w/o locals then redo the dishes if it will work.
Thanks

It would be best if you'd post your location so some info about your required orbitals for locals could be inferred.

That said, I think the installer is wrong. Try again. Who did you set up the install through, DISH or an independent retailer?

Do you currently have 129? Why can't he use the existing dish configuration.

Assuming there's a DP LNB on the superdish for 129, all the goofball installer needed to do was to feed 129 into your DPP twin, and then two leads go to the node, and from there to the Hopper. Case closed.

Didn't the Superdish get 121 or 105 FSS? along with 110 and 119? IF he has a programming package that still uses 121 or 105, then there may be a problem. But I thought about all programming was off 105 and 121.

I am in NE Ohio Alliance. yes I get 129 now... he said he was not allowed to use it because it is old

and could go bad and all Hoppers had to use the new dish.

I assume I have dp lnb my ViP722 works fine.

So then he should have replaced all your antenna equipment with a Western Arc single dish setup. I'd get a different installation company out; call dish direct or chat with a DIRT here.

You can do it with older dishes but it's really finicky. He could of use the a 500 twin and 500 solo wing dish to feed a 44 switch into a node. I don't think super dish is compatible but don't quote me. Dish has us remove them whenever we see one

What satellite are your HD locals on? If you get them now, you would be able to get them with a new dish setup.

In house techs are supposed to replace a superdish on site, but if you get the 129 from there then you could with a 1000.2 or a 500 wing dish.

I will answer the best I can. Western Arc single dish setup is what the installer was trying to use. 3rd party contracted by Dish.
I called dish to get the new setup.
Both the dish pro and the 500 LNB`s have the dp logo on them.
I was told the 110 and 119 have all my programing (top 250) on them.
My locals are on the 129 bird.
Is it possible to pickup eastern arc 110&119 and feed 129 western arc?
Could I have an Installer set up 110&119 eastern arc then set up my own 129 after he leaves?
That`s what I am saying the installer basically said 1 dish (the black one 3LNB`s) or it wont work.
Sorry for all the questions but I cant believe dish had a setup that worked and changed it to a smaller dish that cant do as good.

The installer should have replaced the Superdish with a second Dish 500 aimed at just 129 if the 1000.2 wouldn't work. Obviously a 2 dish setup is currently working. Eastern Arc is 61.5, 72 and 77 orbital locations and western arc is 110,119,129. Most of the HD programming is on 129 on the western arc along with the locals. You would be missing the majority of the HD programming without 129.

PM a Dirt member and try to get an actual Dish tech out.

You can feed the line from a 129 wing dish into the input of a 500 (110/119) and have the two output feeds from it go to a solo node. If you want 2 Hoppers you will need to feed the lines from both dishes to a switch.

I have done installs for one Hopper with that exact setup (without the switch), it works fine. It doesn't require a 1000.2 or 1000.4 dish.

That is perfect I only need/want just the Hopper. I don't even need a Joey.
Now how do I get Dish to install it? I could do it but Dish wont sent me the equipment.
I think my super dish is the 110 & 119 and the 500 is single horn for 129.
Will this still work agentc13?

Find a new installer... If you have all three sats now, then it can be made to work.. Some Dish/Lnb changes may be needed, but it can be done. Find a local retailer if you can.

If your are in NE Ohio I would think there is a good chance your locals are on both arcs. What city do you get locals from? If it is Cleveland they are on both arcs.

You could buy the equipment online, or try contacting Dish (or if you have a reliable one in your area a Dish retailer). I am guessing that the DIRT members who check this site could probably help you out somehow.

I wouldn't try to use the Superdish (I'm an in-house Dish tech and they make us remove them on sight whenever we run into them). But you could get a 500 dish in it's place to get the 100/119. It doesn't seem like a difficult setup, how close are the two dishes that you have from each other?
