Help!! Can`t get Hopper

If everything else failed.

If you cannot get anyone else to install it for you, call this guy back.
Ask him to install 1000.2 in place of Superdish.
Even if for some unknown reason he cannot get good signal on 129 from 1000.2 ask him (or do it yourself after he leaves) to cover 129 feed on 1000.2 LNBF with half of an empty soda can or folded few times kitchen aluminum foil :) Make sure to secure this cover (zip-tie or ductape) :).
Then feed 129 signal from small 500 to 1000.2 LNB IN slot and you're golden.
Good luck.

Well I am about half way their. installer was out today. Set up new western arc dish had it all set up but it had low signal on 110. yea I know first installer said 129. Tree in the way the neighbors and lucky me he wants it cut down.
His company would not let him activate the Hopper @$^%@%@$.
He was allowed to setup an Eastern arc dish. He did use the one that has an extra input.
So as it stands I have no locals. Can I point a dish at 129 bird to get local HD back?
When the tree is removed should I setup a Western arc instead?

Just for clarification, did you previously have 110, 119 and 129 off two separate dishes? (post 13)

Now, somehow you don't have 129? It doesn't sound consistent.

Yes I had all three birds 110, 119, and 129 with my old 2 dish setup. I have trees off in the distance causing low signal. about 54 on the scale.

yesterday the second installer picked up good signal on 119 and 129 in the 60s but only in the 50s on the 110 with a new western arc dish.
The first installer mounted a western arc dish to a piece of plywood and could only get in the 50s on the 129 and in the 60 on the 110 and 119.

Now the second installer was allowed to set up an eastern arc dish but no locals after he left I set up a dish 500 to point at the 110 as I thought my SD locals are on that bird but Dish has already turned them off.

My plan is to
1 set up my dish 500 to hit the 129 for HD locals if it will work with eastern arc or
2. Buy an western arc dish, cut down the tree in question and set that up with no eastern arc.

Sorry for asking so meany questions but I have had Dish for about 15 years and HD since it came out
My old 2 dish setup worked fine and I am being told that with low signal I wont be happy. I have always had low in the 50 signal.

With the information you've supplied, the input from the installers doesn't add up. You've had service in the past, up until very recently without issue. The signal strengths you state are not that bad.

"The first installer mounted a western arc dish to a piece of plywood and could only get in the 50s on the 129 and in the 60 on the 110 and 119."

I guess I don't see the reason to not give you service, other than the installer saying "no".

That is why I am here asking questions it does not add up for me.
The installer the second one seemed to be doing all he could.
His company would not let him activate the hopper because of the low signal.
He said Dish does audits and they get hit for not doing the standards.
I told him I would call Dish and try to activate the hopper but he said he could get in trouble.
That is why I just let him set up Eastern arc w/ no locals to get it activated and redo what ever I need to to get the correct sats..

Well a new update.
I re-pointed the Dish 500 that I set up on 110 is now pointed to the 129 bird.
HD locales are back and all seams fine.
Thanks to everyone that helped me get this working.
Eastern arc with 129

Excellent news! Too bad the installer couldn't make that happen to start with...

Especially with 2 poles and cabling already there. It's a fairly easy upgrade... Swap out a dish and replacing ground block/diplexers with node/splitter/etc.

Sounds like the original tech was either very new (and just mistaken on how it works) or lazy.

Glad you got it sorted. :)

Yeah. I really don't understand what the deal was with these guys. I would have installed the 1000.4 eastern arc with the input and then hooked the 129 to it. Seems pretty straight forward.

That's Digital Dish's lack of training their Techs in Ohio.

No surprise there. Thank god I left that company and no longer have to put up with their crap.
