The manual east/west buttons work, but no matter what settings I put into my gtmedia v8x box, it doesn't respond/move. Thanks
press the hidden button with the paper clip to reset the motor.
Exactly correct. It's a good opportunity to zero the motor. A small mirror is part of my toolkit to assist with this....So it might be best to do such a reset, with motor at zero-angle....
I double checked and everything is setup correctly in the receiver. I even pulled out an old viewsat vs2000 to test with and got the same (non-responsive) result from the rotor. If you're using USALS, you need to populate your local latitude and longitude. I expect without those, the receiver wouldn't be able to construct a valid command.
Thank you! I used to come here often, but its been over 5 years.Welcome to the forum, nwkn1g!
I cleared the limits and tried again, no go. I tried using Diseqc 1.2 and usals protocols and neither worked.Do you have a DisableLimits command in you receiver? Have you tried that, and after that checked again?
You also tried GoLeft or GoRight (GoEast or GoWest) commands from your receiver, with no effect?
I cut about 10 feet of coax and crimped on new connectors to get rid of that variable. How did you test:
With short cable or long? If long, then try also with short cable.
With LNB cable attached to the other motor terminal, or not? If LNB connected, try without connection.
I looked up SG-2100 and I think that's the exact same one that I have. Thanks for helping me identify it!It looks like an SG-2100 or similar. I think I can just see the small hole beside one of those rubber grommets. One grommet hides the manual west-east button. The other one that has the small hole is where you insert a paper clip. With the cable from your receiver connected and the receiver on (power applied to the motor), press the hidden button with the paper clip to reset the motor. Do it a couple of times. You will see the light on the motor flash yellow and then revert back to green. Doing this has brought my motor back to life in the past.
I'm not familiar with that motor, but there really should be a reset button inside? Have you tried, with a small metal pin?I popped off the rubber grommets and looked for a reset button, but couldn't find one. A green LED lives down in that little reset hole.
There would be motor voltage, or the manual buttons wouldn't work.Have you checked the output voltage on the STB?
Not to belabour the point, but is it possible that light IS the reset button? I've never removed the grommets so I'm not sure if my light is in that hole. Its illumination may shine sideways so it appears the light is behind the grommet with the grommet in place....but there really should be a reset button inside? Many motors without manual reset buttons allowed the user to perform a reset at the motor using the East / West buttons. Not to belabour the point, but is it possible that light IS the reset button? Please cut off the power for the motor first before any operation.
That's a good thread. Another thread for troubleshooting the SG-2100 is here: Troubleshooting SG-2100...the SG2100 indeed seems to exist with, and without reset button: SG-2100 Motor Referencing
