Hopper 3 Version 392 is Here

I dont know what the did but most streaming channels have black screen for about 10 seconds after banner info upon channel change disappears. and I still dont understand why the streaming channels keep switching from hiqh quality image to real terrible one.

I have 1gbit down connection and h3 get 100mbit which over kill for most streaming channels let alone dish ones.

Also not sure if "software" issue and more of guide issue but would be nice if they sort out the doctor who channel. it either says "classic Doctor Who" or Doctor Who in title when it just "Doctor Who" the Channel is "Classic Doctor Who" and descriptions severely lacking. You dont know what "part #" is playing cause it not in description let alone what story is happen aka "Mind Ripper" follow by Part # and episode # is useless cause it all over place even when you know it play part 1 ~ 5 in order episode number might be something stupid like 356,357,352,358,150.

I appreciate I can now record those classic episode but current way thing are on that channel you would know what episodes belong to what even if you did record em cause it all over the place

Just forced updated approximately 1 hour ago on the Hopper H3 on H90 to H392 with Hopper Plus on P13402.

Have the same issue(s) in H392 as mentioned with H390 and earlier after updating.

So there are still six major issues:
1) The bar chart shows the DVR % is visible which for me is 100% even though there is 120GB of free space left on the internal HDD. H392 still has the issue where 119GB-120GB free is considered 100% full on the HDD so the last 119GB-120GB can't be used at all. The fix is either make it available with the correct % remaining or treat the HDD as 120GB less in capacity so the % meter for what's used is correct.

2) The issue of skipping all the way to the beginning and end of the buffer and not anything between the beginning and end appears to not be fixed as it still does happen.

3) As seen in the photo below, we all know the buffers are 1 hour but as seen in the photo, the buffer appears to start from the point of when the Hopper started buffering the channel since it is 23 hours per the photo so the length of the buffer is wrong as well as the start time on the left which should never exceed 1hour or 60 minutes.

4) Another issue using the photo above as a example is that sometimes the video will freeze when either rewinding, forwarding, replaying, skipping and then what eventually happens is using the above photo for example, it will lost the entire buffer even though the 1:30AM to 12:30AM bar is there but the yellow will be empty except from the time when the live buffer shows video after unfreezing, basically it's similar to someone just changing to that channel except the bar will still show the 23 hours but without the yellow before the current buffering.

5) H383, H385, H386, H387, H388, H390, H392 and possibly earlier version(s) I may not be aware of has this issue where randomly, as we all know there is the 1 hour buffer on the current channel but let's assume the current time is a new program which was on for 10 minutes, it will not allow rewinding past the start of the current program as the buffer would be gone for anything before that part so one can only rewind back to the beginning of the current program and not the previous program even though the Hopper 3 was always tuned to the channel for the entire 1 hour or 60 minutes and ofcourse the bar would still appear like the photo above except the yellow would start from the time of the start of the current program and nothing before that.

6) H381, H382, H383, H385, H386, H387, H388, H390 and H392 has the issue where the Remote Control Mode Reminder Notification is always on where it will display that the remote needs to be in SAT mode when on TV and AUX even when Settings -> Notifications -> Remote Control Mode Reminder is set to Off. This was originally discovered by Pepper.

As Pepper said, we would all appreciate it if these issue(s) would get reported to the developers and engineering.

My Guide still has the SD, HD, Stream designations which other people without a Hopper Plus said had been missing since H388.

Well, I can no longer check my firmware version since I moved my Hopper and Joey from my old house to new, and the remotes no longer work! (They worked fine last night.) My install this morning failed due to lack of a longer J-tube mast. Idiots! Why do they even come up with a whiff of a thought that "one size fits all"? Yup, navy, it's still Via. For those interested in the technical details, the EA is about 10 deg west of the side of my house. I have purchased a 28" J-tube from Solid Signal for $20 + tax since Via doesn't have any.

OK; I have a modest positive revelation. Even though the H3 cannot be used via the remote, I can watch recorded programs on it via DishAnywhere.

Are you using the 54 remotes? Does your Joey work with its remote? Just for jeeps, try that remote on your Hopper 3. Remember that the remotes are paired individually with their receivers. Make sure you don't have them mixed up. If neither work, try this: Bring either receiver to the diagnostics screen. You can do this manually by pressing the system info button on the Joey or the Hopper. You should see a 54 remote on the right hand side of the screen. If don't see the remote there, while in the diagnostic screen, press the satellite button on the remote. You should hear some beeps. If not you can disengage your remote by doing this:

  • Press and hold the SAT button on the side of the remote until SAT starts to flash.
  • Press and hold the DVR and Guide buttons at the same time for a few seconds until you hear descending tones come from the remote.
Next press the satellite button again and you should re-pair the remote to the receiver.

Before you do any of this make sure that you haven't mixed the remotes. You can prove this by bringing both remotes directly to the room that the receiver is in and trying each one individually.

Thanks, Bobby, for these detailed instructions which I have printed out. No, I did not mix up the remotes and yes they are both 54's and they were both working as of last night when I unplugged the H3 and J3 to bring them to my new house. Why in heck would they stop working when the dish antenna is unplugged? This is perverse.

I have never observed such behavior before in... However many years I've been with Dish. My first Dish receiver was a 4900 IIRC, so that gives you some idea of my self-install date. I installed 2X D500's for regular English and international programming off 61.5. Worked great until the trees leafed out.
