April Fools!!!Please stop believing everything you read here. Along with mostly very good information is a smattering of good fun posts. Most of us know the difference.
Component cabling is for HD signalling. You are thinking of composite cabling. How could component outputs become "obsolete" they are mostly there now for older equipment that was manufactured before HDMI. Although several new TV's still come with them for redundancy. I have a JVC D-VHS machine connected to a year old Sony 4K set using them. The JVC lacks HDMI.
Component is what those giant 50-70 inch HD TVs that weighed a ton used for HD input. That was before HDMI was released.

I sure would love to believe that component is here to say, but it aint. Oh, and for those who still NEED component to view HD on their legacy HDTV's? The govt. and Hollywood would say, "Tough Darts! Go and buy a NEW TV."
And this would be the teaching moment to learn that some jokes backfire, like those practical jokes that go too farHe, he, he!
Unfortunately none of it is true.
I was joking around the other day by saying there was a Hopper 4 and that it would be released on April 1st. (April fools day)
If there was a Hopper 4 coming Dish would have been at CES showing it off and making a big deal about it. Dish had nothing to show so they skipped CES.

I still use an old Trutech 19-inch HDTV from 2008 that only has a component input for HD.Component is what those giant 50-70 inch HD TVs that weighed a ton used for HD input. That was before HDMI was released.
It doesn't even have HDMI/DVI?I still use an old Trutech 19-inch HDTV from 2008 that only has a component input for HD.
Nope, just component. The other inputs are standard-def. (composite, s-video, coaxial)It doesn't even have HDMI/DVI?
