How can I run two configurations one hopper/joey and one VIP211z directly? Will it work?

I have read up on a few threads here regarding the Duo Node running 2 hoppers and 3 joeys. I would also like to connect my VIP211z to my TV in the garage, I called support and those extremely helpful people first said I could split the client side of the Duo Node, then I call back to that lovely foreign location for which Dish only knows to get the advice of I need to split the Host side of the Duo Node to the 211z. neither worked, I can see SAT 119 but thats it.

So my question is are the three coax's coming out of the Sat itself (LNB's) are they each hitting a satellite or are they split by frequency and all three get all three Satellites being used.

Also the Dish I have has three LNB's (and 3 coaxes coming out of the Dish) is there another connection (4) that I can tap off of and run it directly to the 211z?

If the channels are being identified by Freq then I should be able to split one of the inputs from the Dish? Or are each lines coming out of the Dish (LNB) for each satellite then compiled at the Duo Node then out to broadcast?


I used to be an installer years ago some im not completely ignorant, close but not completely. I do not have the DPP33 or 44. Just the Duo Node with three inputs and 2 host port and 2 client ports.

Can I isolate the 211z assuming the Dish itself does have a 4th coax connection and run it directly to the 211 or can i include a solo node?

If im not mistaken this would mean there are two separate systems running, one with the hopper/joey then the VIP

from what ive read on here the VIP and Hopper/Joey set up is not a good combination, how can I isolate the VIP211z from the Hopper/joey

Am I missing something here? If you have only one Hopper, you should have a solo node, not a duo node. The duo node has only 2 DPP inputs (2 outputs from your dish), leaving the 3rd DPP output for your 211.

Krell is correct if you have a single Hopper. You could take one of those coaxes coming from the dish off of the duo node and connect it directly to the coax going to the 211 and it should work. It would help to terminate the port that you cleared on the duo node.

I had a setup of . Two feeds from the dish going to my solo node for the hopper and the 3rd from the dish going to a 622 . No problem at all .

I wish I had only one Hopper but I do in fact have two and no DPP44 switch.

Its been awhile since ive delved into the Satellite arena, 10 years ago I had audio video company and contracted with both DISH and Direct, and Charter Comcast.

Why I originally asked where is the signal that I need at the TV, because they are are a bit different and forget which was which.

But the layout from Dish and as n0qcu had said I do need a switch to add a VIP box into a Hopper Joey Setup.

They will be here tomorrow to install

Its 8 bucks for the line insurance and 50 dollar and they run the cabling or I pay 40 for the switch and do the work myself. I think that 18 bucks is money well spent considering cable connectors etc...
