Please, help.

I have a PVR 942 and Dish 1000 setup.

In the 942 Reciever Signal acquire page, I am unable to select Dish 1000. It only displays Dish 500,300, Super Dish no 1000.
Do I need to some how download the software so that the system can recognize that it is a Dish 1000 Antenna ?
Right now it only recognizes 110 & 119 even when I select Super Dish or Dish 500.

No your software is probably ok. There is no Dish1000 listed as of yet, under the Peak Angles menu which I assume you are talking about.
If your Dish1000 is properly aligned, just do a check switch. If all is well you should get...119/All....110/All....129/All.

If you are trying to set this up yourself you need to refer to the manual that came with the Dish1000 to find your angles. Look up your Zip Code in the book. If you don't have one, let me us know and we can help.

Thanks for your quick reply.

On the signal angles menu, I can change the Sat to 129 and I do get a signal.
What setup do I choose Dish 500 or Superdish to get the signal from all 3 ?
On the installation summary 119 and 110 are green and the third box has X's.
Under that both Super Dish and the other type of setup is selected.
Should one of these be deselected ?
I have the Line from the Dish coming in, connected to the Signal seperator and from there the 2 oulets on the Seperator are connected to the Satellite 1 & 2 ports on the reciever.
Is this correct ?

No, it's not correct. Your checkswitch matrix SHOULD be showing 110...119...and...129. The fact the 129 has XX's in it indicates to me it (a) isn't properly wired or (b) you don't have a line of sight for that satellite.

Just out of curiousity, what version of software are you running on your 942?

The Dish Type selection is just to set the angle display, but the checkboxes need to be UNchecked, and then run a Check Switch.

The first thing that comes to my mind for the "XX"s is that the 129 LNB isn't hooked to the LNB-In port of the DPP-Twin. IIRC, you can tell the difference by loking at the details section off of Check Switch.

Did you ever figure this out? I just installed a dish 1000 with an 811 and didn't get the 129 sat. I have 119 coming in just fine and 110 also, I have a superdish at the same location with 121 coming in, but for some reason the 811 doesn't recognize the 129.

Any ideas?

Try running a check switch without any satellite cables connected to the receiver. This will clear out the matrix on the receiver. Then run the check switch with the satellite cables connected to the receiver and see if you can see the 129 sat then. If all else fails , get a satellite meter for like 19.99- 29.99 and use it to give you the best signal on the 119 w satellite. Also make sure you have run the Recommended 5 and a half inch length on the cable for the 129 lnb. I followed the directions on the install manual that came with the dish 1000 and I got it the first time with the sat meter I bought too.

Interesting ... I used the satellite meter and I made the lead five and a half feet, but actually made it longer. I'm running 115 on a couple of 119 transponders. I'll try checking the switch without the leads connected and try doing it over. Its beginning to look like I have a glitch in the new version of receiver software or something. I checked the cables twice to make sure.

Well I tried the new switch check and it went through all 38 switches, I went back to the screen and 129 wasnt there, it scanned for satellites, stayed on the 129 and went through the 5 startup screens, downloaded the guide and came up.

Still no 129. I'm thinking maybe a bad 129 lnbf out of the box or something.

thanks

What is your zipcode? The skew and elevation is going to be a little different than with a Dish 500. If you give me the zipcode I can tell you what your skew , elevation and azmiuth is supposed to be from the installation manual that came with the dish 1000. Sometimes you can get a great peak at 119 with the Dish1000 with say the skew of a Dish500 , and it won't see the 129 sat. With the dish 1000 , the elevation is different and the skew was too with the Dish 500 vs the Dish1000.
