how to install external HD

does anybody know how to hook up an external HD to the brighthouse receiver,my brother has alot of football on his dvr and he needs extra storage,I know it can be done but I cant find any info.any help would be very appreciated.

its not officially supported, but you should be able to hookup throught the firewire port on the back of the DVR.
