Hi guys... I am a new Dish Network customer as of two days ago. I have a VIP 722K receiver. I have a 6.3 IR/UHF Pro remote that I am using on TV1. I also have a 21.0 IR/UHF Pro remote that I am using upstairs on TV2 (I actually have two of these remotes as they sent me another one.

Anyway, I cannot get the 6.3 remote that I am using to work on the satellite downstairs. I can control the tv just fine, but none of the satellite functions work. I can turn the tv off and change the channel and when I turn the tv back on the channel has changed, so I am pretty sure that my TV is causing interference with the remote ? I have a Sony Bravia LCD.

Is this a common problem? What is the solution? Thanks for the help!

Yes, it is somewhat common, or at least the advice is to check for TV interference when the remote does not work. Try a different remote address code. Also, there is a specific control on the TV, I believe to do with lighting, such as auto dimming, that if turned off fixes the problem sometimes. Perhaps someone else will post with the correct setting to change...

Hey Gsbtx and welcome to the forums!

LCD TV's have been known to cause interference issues. They usually clear up after 5-20 minutes of being turned on, however there are a few things you can try to bypass it. You can try disabling the auto back-lighting feature on the TV itself. Another option to try is making the TV1 remote UHF rather than IR.

You could also check and make sure there's no bright light sources, no sun on the front of the receiver, nothing in the way of the receiver that could be blocking the IR signal.

The tab on the bottom of the remote. As it's a 722k you will need to use your other 21.0 remote you got. Make sure it has a green 1 on the bottom, and on the back by the batteries is a switch that says IR and UHF. Flip it over to UHF and go to the System Information screen. Press record and it should change the Primary Address to UHF PRO.

Let me know what happens!

I did all of the above and it tells me "You are attempting to set both remotes to the same address. you are not allowed to do this. Please select another remote address for one of the two remote addresses":confused:

No problem, hold SAT on the new remote you're using until they all light up. Let go and when SAT is blinking enter a number between 1 and 15 (Different from TV2's) and press #. Do record again and it should go through.

That was it! Remote seems to be working much better. Thank you so much Thomas. This was much easier than calling the help line.
