I was talking to dish representative and they said I could get ktla, wpix, and wwor in hd, if I have a dish pointed at 61.5. Is this true or not?

I dont live on honolulu, on the big island. I also got dish 1000.2 that is used on the mainland for my current setup or that doesn't make a difference.

WPIX and WWOR are in HD but in the NY dma only and they are supposed to be on spot beam although WWOR wasn't on spot a while ago and it was supposed to be corrected. I have not heard if that happened or not. KTLA HD should be on 129 and should be on spot as well. Plus I thought the Superstation package was no longer available so I doubt you could get the sd versions of the channels either. If I am incorrect, I'm sure someone will post current status for them.

WWOR is still in HD if you live in the spotbeam area and are Grandfathered to have Superstations. People here pontificated that it would get "Fixed" but there is no proof DISH feels it is a mistake.

Superstations are still an option at least on my account. The hd question is another story.

I'm guessing if it is showing in your programming it is a mistake. They no longer show in my programming choices, I have all 7.

you can't get the supers in HD. If you are in the market that has one of the 5 Superstations in the local package then yes it would be in HD. But not all 5 of them

With the exception of WWOR....... :) You don't need to be in their market, only in the Spotbeam EA.

had a 148 dish years ago too. Thats when Dish first started testing compression for MPEG4 (pre Eastern Arc) and they had the stations in the clear for free to air receivers to see.

That was awesome because we had ESPN HD for a while

(the dish on the left was for 123 & 119 back in the day...back when Dish had the CD audio streams in the clear too)
