Today, something weird happened.
the wifey yelling from kitchen she can not watch TV. I go up there, notice the 'signal lost' (can't remember exact words.) warning. 3 choices, streaming, DVR and learn more. I turn the Joey off and on. still the same. I go to basement tv (with another Joey2). turn it on. everything is fine. it is not related to dish outside. no heavy rain or snow.
back to kitchen and unplug the power cord from Joey2. wait 10-15 seconds. plug it back. Joey2 eventually comes back to screen with same 'signal lost' message!
I convince wife to pick a recording from DVR. no problem. She is a trooper, doesn't fuss much
.
the question:
Is there anything else to do or do I wait and hope the issue will go away?

thank you.

Sounds like it could be an issue with the cable, or it is indeed dying. (Hipkat can chime in if I am off here) :D

But if it does die ask for a Joey 4. While they were buggy when they first came out they are now amazing little boxes.

Temp swap Joey's from basement to kitchen, and see if the problem travels. If it stays in the kitchen, it's the cable. If it travels, it's the former kitchen Joey.

Waited wifey to finish watching her beloved show. went to kitchen. Joey automatically switched to live (the last channel viewed) tv. changed channels to be sure. it was good. Perhaps, we dodged the bullet.

It happens again, I will swap two. Still bad, time to call for joey4.
thanks for all the responses.

OK. It is possible with a two year commitment, a service call and a free assessment of whether I could benefit from a sound bar or other equipment available through Dish.

I was leery on all counts but the free assessment sounded like a high pressure upsell and I am allergic to those

The bottom line is that they will do it with a two year commitment, a professional install, and a free assessment of whether my home would benefit from a new sound bar or other audio equipment available from DISH

Kinda confused here, which is not a good thing for an old geezer!
I must ask.....
If the same Joey2 starts acting and I swap 2 units as suggested..Still having the same issue with new location.
I call Dish, explain. Do they require the same model which is Joey2 (very likely a refurbished unit) to ship and I do it without 2 year commitment?
Another words, if I request a fancier new model Joey4 (faster?) I have to accept paying for Dish to come to the house and install it with a new 2 yr contract (currently out of contract)?

A commitment has nothing to do with a soundbar or any of the On-Site Sales items or services. Those items can only be transacted on an open work order.

A Joey 4 install is just swapping your Joey 2 box out and plugging in the Joey 4.

Its a much faster box, adds Android TV support and also adds 4K support to that TV from DISH and from the Android apps. :)

I agree that they are not connected but they were the stated conditions

I also agree that it is a simple install but it was stated as a condition. I argued that it was a simple installation but they did not budge.

I do not agree with any of these. I simply reported what happened on the call.

Then you talked to someone that was clueless about what you were asking

At the risk of doing exactly that here I am just reporting how the conversation went. as someone pointed out earlier this may be a case of CSR roulette. Some CSRs may blindly follow a script others may be a bit more flexible and helpful.
