Joey2, please don't die on me!!

A Joey 4 install is just swapping your Joey 2 box out and plugging in the Joey 4.

Its a much faster box, adds Android TV support and also adds 4K support to that TV from DISH and from the Android apps. :)

In lieu of a Joey 4, a Joey 3 is much faster than what you have. They cost the same monthly.
Does the joey 3 have caler id? I know the joey 4 does not

Dish employees are required to ask you to buy such merchandise. All you have to do is decline.
And I did indeed decline. Had I accepted the offer I would have had an in home sales experience which I also could have declined. I just do not want to listen to a sales pitch

If you think it's a sales pitch, then the tech is doing it wrong.
And if the tech never made a single offer then you may never know the things they carry on the van or the services they can provide.

Personally, I think it's ridiculous to go buy a TV because of the phenomenal picture that sounds like an AM radio.
I think it's silly to pay for fast internet in some homes, in some parts of the home, because of WiFi falloff and weak signal strength to NOT explore Mesh Routers.
I think it's stupid to plug your electronics into power strips instead of Surge Protectors.
I think it's silly to mount a TV and NOT use a kit to hide the wires.
I think Doorbell cameras are becoming more and more of a necessity and less of a novelty.

But, that's just me

We all make our own decisions about what sales pitches they want to hear/endure and whether they think they need an installer to swap out two Joeys. Especially when they are told it is necessary for a Joey 4.

You would say yes and I would and did say no . If they had been a bit more honest I might have been more receptive to listening to their tech advice. But sadly it just seemed like they wanted to increase their revenue not help me

When we did a Dish Mover last March I did not mind the tech asking me about a sound bar (I have 2 surround systems already) or about a doorbell camera ( we already have one - he gave me one anyway -still in the box). It was just a part of the conversation as he went about doing the installation of the dish and setting up the Hopper 3 and Wireless Joey 3. My opinion is that the originator of this line of discussion was a bit over sensitive and anticipating something that wasn't there. Does he get offended when a store clerk asks him if they can help them? It's the same thing. Perhaps he might reconsider his assumptions and temper his reaction.
If the purchase was stated to be mandatory, that would have been a line crossed and the CSR was out of line, but a FREE assessment does not sound like that to me. I have never experienced that with either a DIsh tech or CSR.

Well, my understanding from Jim's statement is it is acceptable if installer tells a customer what is available as service or gadgets. That wouldn't bother me at all. I would just decline it as Peter did. I wouldn't get annoyed though unless the installer tells me I must accept all the extras.
I imagine some installers are pushy and some aren't. Maybe, Peter's was a bit.
