Finally saw Gandhi. As an aside, I watched it via the Sony streaming app which is supposed to be high bit rate. Didn't buffer once...

Movie was gorgeous in 4K, movies like this live for 4K and maybe 8K if that happens (thought that'd be a theater). Story told employed some Hollywood clichés to save time and keep focus on Gandhi, and I think they could have managed the Partition better. The film had a Lawrence of Arabia veil with the scenery and the extensive extras painting a magnificent tapestry on the screen. Kingsley, who is part Indian (though the Muslim side of the equation) was beyond remarkable. Of criticisms I've seen of the movie, it indeed is a hero epic, instead of a flat out and honest biography. Pretty hard to make a film better.

V for Vendetta (spoilers). I originally saw this in the movie theater, knowing nothing about it, and was very surprised by how much I liked it. I think the original authors felt it was Americanized a bit too much (despite taking place in the UK). Each time I see the film, it becomes less science fiction/comic to the real world. They do use a couple cheats, but overall, well told story. This film is harder to notice the popping in 4K. It has enough darkness, but the trouble with HDR sometimes is you don't know what you missing the first time with the inclusion of HDR.

I'm not certain what is next.
