Last & Next Movie Watched

Last: Indy4

Didn't hate it. It wasn't too bad. Wasn't great, though. A few corny spots.

S~
Completely agree, but when you think back all the Indy movies are corny in places. So I think what we saw in Crystal Skull was right in line with the series...!

Watched it for the second time last evening with my (adult) kids. So that counts as my last. I also watched I am Legend on Fri. Will be traveling for a few days. If my POTC set shows-up while I'm gone then the first in that series will be next. Otherwise I have Outbreak and Kill Bill 1 on deck, and I am definitely going to watch Ironman again, not sure which will be first...

I watched "The Bank Job" last night.

I don't remember this movie getting a lot of attention, so I was pleasantry surprised in how good it was. Jason Statham was great in this Euro heist film, which was based on a true story. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie it seemed like.

I rented The Incredible Hulk, haven't watched it yet though. Will do so a little later this evening.

I have 2001: A Space Odyssey and Baraka on order. Both movies were photographed on 65mm film.

Baraka
is a different kind of movie released in 1992. I watched it in 70mm back in the early 1990s. MPI scanned the original 65mm negative in 8000 line resolution and produced the world's first 8K digital intermediate from it. Roger Ebert said this about the new Blu-ray: "The restored 2008 Blu-ray is the finest video disc I have ever viewed or ever imagined."

Enjoy. 2001 was my favorite movie experience on Blu-Ray to date.

Rocky, let me know if you have any issues with Indy around 57 minutes in. Scene in a tent where Indy is in a chair. Many but not overwhelming number of users (including myself) have their players kind of lockup there for a few minutes until about 1 hour mark in movie then all is fine.

Indy played fine in my player. It was more style over substance, but still enjoyable.

Last: The Art of War (2000). Actually not a bad action/spy film. The ending worked for me.

Next: Not sure. Maybe Jaws...been a few years since I've watched it from beginning to end...

Teachsac/Longtime DNC, do you mind getting the 2 sets of numbers on the inner ring of your Indy discs?

Had to scan the disc to read the numbers as I couldn't find my magnifying glass...

BVDL-031150A1 IFPI-L324 for layer 1
BVDL-031150B1 couldn't make out layer 2 entirely...IFPI-L??? and even the L was a rough guess...

Hope that helps...

Thanks guys, your codes are completely different than mine, so I am wondering if there is a bad run of discs as my codes seem to be close to everyone else that is reporting issues.

Last - PotC Curse of the Black Pearl, Next - Dead Man's Chest...

Got that 3-disc set for $54.95 delivered from Amazon, then there will be a $30 discount on that for signing-up for and using their Visa card.

Interesting that for all 3 discs there are DD audio options that include "Lossless". I assumed that would be TrueHD, but the receiver only reports LPCM. Sounds great anyway. You have to select the lossless track in the audio setup options; it is not the default. (I should compare it to the base DD 5.1 track.)

(Been a big Depp Fan since Edward Scissorhands...)

No DD TrueHD on these. The best sound is from the uncompressed PCM tracks. The sound difference between these and the DD 5.1 (640) is obvious, stick with the LPCM tracks.

Indy 4.

I had low expectations of this film, based on all of the negative reviews.

Personally, I had a good time during this film. The landscape created by Lucas and Spielberg were really something to be marveled at in HD. This was a rather enjoyable experience on the 92" and surround sound. Great big screen flick.
