how to add a external hard drive to hr24-100?

but note it does bypass the internal drive

one other thing to be aware of.. You cant use the external drive as a backup...
As soon as you plug it into another receiver it will format again and erase everything

2. Plug in drive
3. Plug in Recvr

Recvr should see the new hard drive once it boots up and format drive

4. Use drive.

A reboot above may work, but you have to plug in drive before it starts to start up again.

2 tb is the limit for the regular hd dvrs IIRC. I don't think there is a limit for the Genies.

I have had good luck with 1.5TB EHD's on my 24's.

I would imagine that there IS a limit for the Genies, though it may not be known yet.

I think like Chip said, 2TB was the limit on the up to 24's.

Same here, I've tried a 3TB on the HR20-700 and HR24-500 with no luck so 2TB's is still the limit...

Geesh, I didn't even know they made 3TB's.
Can you imagine having the HD go down and losing all those stored shows.

As always, Never keep something you HAVE to have on a storage device very long, you never know when you may lose your hard drives, this goes for any providers.

The providers are NOT responsible for lost programs.

While I was researching for esata drives I ran across a 12tb drive ( but they grab you by a very tender area and squeeze Really hard for that one) LOL
