You can breathe a sigh of relief, Bill.
They did NOT lose the game!
So this isn't a 'game that broke their back.' This was basically a pinball game.

Jeter (ankle) leaves on cart
Aug. 13,2008
MINNEAPOLIS - Derek Jeter's ability to play through pain is well known. However, watching him leave the Metrodome on the back of a cart last night with an injured left ankle was an indication the shortstop will be out of the lineup today.
"He is OK," manager Joe Girardi said of his captain, who went 3-for-5 and drove in a run in the 9-6, 12-inning win over the Twins. "He has a bruised instep. I think he will play [today]."
Girardi spoke before Jeter, who fouled a ball off the foot in the fourth inning and stayed in the game until the ninth, required a cart to leave the ballpark. Jeter walked from the trainer's room to the cart in the hallway with a severe limp.
X-rays were negative on the foot. If Jeter can't go, Wilson Betemit will start at short.

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Oakland Athletics third baseman Eric Chavez had surgery Wednesday to repair damage in his right shoulder and will be out for at least six months.
Bill, I have been debating to myself about whether I should give up on the A's.
Everytime I promise not to sever my Oakland ties, they get rid of another star player.
What do you think?
I don't want to sound like a bandwagon jupmer, but I can't keep hoping that Oakland will HOLD ON to a player.
If I know Beane, he'll trade Cust for five prospects and a hot-dog vendor.
