Are the MPEG 4 signals in NYC spotbeam?

Yes, as well as YES when it is on channel 96. I think SNY is also live, with MSG soon to follow. I don't know about FSNY.

So there will be no national HD Nets in Mpeg4? Correct?

I would be lying if I claimed I knew for sure, but I have the idea based on my observations, that they do indeed intend on converting anything HD (mpeg-2) into mpeg-4, eventually removing all mpeg-2 HD streams (and perhaps, one day, SD too), I would assume the national nets would be included, as to when, or how many, is speculation at best, and pure conjecture at worst.

I think the answer to question is very timeline and surely spotbeam specific.

Spotbeams by nature will not be national. Thus the name "spotbeam" as opposed to CONUS.

But as far as MPEG4 CONUS goes:

Between now and say Spring 2007 - Likely not.

Between Spring 2007 and Fall 2007 - Maybe

Between Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 - Somewhat Likely

Past Spring 2008 - Very Likely if not surely.
