Multi Sports add on

?Oh well, while I'm disappointed about this, I must say the picture looks phenomenal and the hopper is great so far!

Glad you like the picture & the hopper. As for your disappointment, imagine if you lived in the NY market where the extra $10 for 120+ gets you nothing because Dish dropped all the RSNs. Seriously Dish, what's the point?

Now that I have looked around the web a bit more I do see the requirement to have the plus package but I have seen many examples like this "Get all the regional sports programming from around the country with the Multi-Sports Package. It also includes the new NFL RedZone. The NFL RedZone gives you up-to-the minute highlights of all the end zone action so you won't miss any of the important NFL plays from across the country, no matter where you live. Add it to any package for only $11.00/month."

What sucks is I asked DISH if I was eligible with my package and was told I could add it after I had everything installed. Feels like the classic screw you of making false promises until you are officially signed in and then once your locked in for two years its a different story and more money.

There was very likely an asterisk and below it said Top120+ or above. But I can easily see how it's confusing. And I have no doubt the phone CSR (Don't use them again) never gave it a thought, probably doesn't even know without looking your package does not qualify, and gave the wrong information.

Glad you can look past that and can enjoy the Hopper!

LOL, no kidding. I was also told I could upgrade/downgrade my package at any time. I certainly would downgrade after they dropped the RSNs but not without some frustration.

This is my first time getting satellite TV, I've stuck with OTA until now. This forum has been a great resource and I had read that chat or the DIRT team were the best ways to interact with DISH. So when I wanted to know if I could add the multi sport package I used the online chat. Hopefully in the future I'll get more accurate info. LOL

I think the "Chat" suggestion is because it gives you a record of what was said (Promised) over doing it over the phone. DIRT gives you the best chance of getting the correct info!

Yes that makes sense. After I showed the transcript to the second rep he offered to give me the package for free for 6 months if I switched to the plus. At the time I was pretty PO'd and thought it was a bait an switch tactic. In hindsight it seems reasonable.

I appreciate all the feedback. This forum is a great resource! Thanks everyone.

Anyone in NY that has that package is just burning money.

Unless, of course, you get it for just college sports. New Yorkers don't get to see their pro sports but even if you did you'd only need a package high enough to get your local sports, not multisport.

I guess I am a tool. I didn't realize the plus package is only $5 the first year. So I just setup another chat and a guy upgraded me to plus and gave the multisport package for free for 6 months. So all is good they took care of me, they tried to take care of me the first time I just didn't realize it.

LOl, all's well that ends well. And that's called Karma - you didn't go ballistic and it worked out ok for now!

The difference between 120 and 120+ is largely your RSNs which include both pro and non pro sports. You need 120+ to get the multi-sports pack so in the NY market your basically giving Dish $10 a month for nothing. Then once you do that, you can give them more money to get the multi-sports pack. No matter, it sucks.
