More good news. Beginning 2/21, the cost to upgrade to the Hopper 2000 will be reduced to $0 for many customers (A rated) under the "Dish'n it Up" and "DishMOVER Receiver Upgrade" promos.

Most customers though are not A Rated. Which means the cost for most folks for a Gen 1 Hopper will be $50 or $100 for Hopper with Sling.

I would bet that anyone that took advantage of the Roku offer wouldn't be "A" material.

Many factors like length of service, payment history, subscription level and freebie history are used to determine customer ratings. That said, not sure the exact fomula is known by anyone other that those that devised it. A check of my last 20 Dish'n it Up jobs contained 11 A's, 7 B's and 2 C rated customers. Any retailer can enter your Last name and Account number into the system and tell you what rating level your account currently is.

Good info. Sounds like either you have a lot of good customers, or the "A" rating is not as hard to get as previously thought.

Not true. I got the free Roku offer when AMC was gone, got a bunch of credits when BTN was gone and just upgraded to the Hopper with Sling from the regular Hopper and I am still a Plan A customer. I've also never been out of contract. We will never find out their system but it does seem to have a lot of factors. I'm sure it helps that my bill is over $140, I'm on autopay/paperless billing, and I rent the occasional movie/event.

Did you pay the $100? Is that the "A" price?

Majority of customers are Plan A or B. There are few that get the Plan C rating and there is usually good reason for it.

Since I am the retailer and would be paying myself I technically did not pay anything. I did the install myself also. Now if I called up Dish to do it I would've had to pay $200 for the Hopper with Sling upgrade since I got it as soon as it came out.
