It's wild how bad the Bills seem to be at times any given Sunday, but looking at their schedule, they have so many strong wins and then you see losing 9-6 to the Jags. They are so much better than their record. Is it coaching? Inconsistent play?

For the Ravens it's the opposite to me, it's a brutal schedule and everything relying on the legs of Lamar Jackson who is a very hot/not passer. When he's bottled up and is having a not game passing the ball it's been a disaster for them.

It's possible a more even game plan designed for his backup could even be a boon to them now and going forward.

Pivoting to the Chiefs... happy to see things continuing to progress. Offense isn't 'there' yet and their problems still exist, but they have a team we haven't seen in the Mahomes era - Mahomes w/ a very good defense. Scary sh*t for the rest of the league if they can keep it going.

The Raiders are the only 2 games where they haven't seen 2 high safeties, and they scored over 90. Can't hope for incompetent schemes/coaching every week.

“Scary” is the correct adjective to describe the Chiefs. Current seedings not withstanding, they are clearly the team to beat in the AFC right now.
 
AFC standings through Week 14. It’s nice to finally see every team has played the same number of games. Crazy 4 weeks coming up, starting with 3 HUGE games to start off Week 15:

Chiefs at Chargers- Thursday night
Raiders at Browns- Saturday afternoon
Patriots at Colts- Saturday night

Divisional and conference records are included in this week’s standings. After head to head these are the most important tiebreakers to determine playoff berths/seeding.

If Buffalo beats Carolina and NE falls to the Colts, the Bills are 1 game back with tie breakers going to NE the following week

The way the Steelers have played, I don't see any way they put together enough good games to possibly make it.
That said, for many many years they will manage to make the last playoff spot ... and then proceed to go OUT in round one.
 
Inching towards our first possible forfeit/reschedule... 8 Browns to the COVID list today. Another significant batch of players like that and it could be difficult to field a team on Saturday against the Raiders.

Jarvis Landry, OT Jedrick Wills, TE Austin Hooper, G Wyatt Teller, DE Takkarist McKinley, G Drew Forbes, WR JoJo Natson and TE Ross Travis positive today.

Largest number of positive tests in the NFL this week since the pandemic began, 36 yesterday. 25 on the active roster, 11 on the practice squad.

For Thursday so far, Chargers have gotten back Keenan Allen but have lost LT Rashawn Slater, while the Chiefs have Chris Jones and Josh Gordon on the list. Remains to be seen if there's enough time for them to test out of it before the game.

I honestly don’t know how the NFL would handle rescheduling games. I know last season we had a game on Tuesday and a game on Wednesday, but at this stage of the season it would be a huge disadvantage for a playoff contender to have a 4 or 5 day week (especially a team that isn’t affected by COVID).

If this is still true, the player's vaccination status may be critical.....

NFL informs clubs that COVID-19 outbreaks among unvaccinated players could lead to forfeited games

It’s obviously very early in their respective careers, but so far PFF has rated the rookie QB’s in inverse order of where they were selected.

Lambo said he Kicked him .... did he kick him or did he bump into him.

There was a player that he blew up at the other day (Jones I think it was) ... Jones said, never happened, they get along fine and was confused that having a conversation with the Coach would be a shouting match ...

Btw, sh*t happens every day on most clubs .... all players Don't get along with one another.

Jacksonville is simply too small of a market, even in the share-and-share-alike “socialist” NFL media system.

- It is DMA #43, and, unlike other smaller DMA teams, does not really have any neighboring markets that join with it. The bulk of the Orlando DMA’s population is closer to Tampa Bay; Savanna isn’t that big (#91) and is more tied to the established Falcons. The rest is pine trees.

- The team, along with Carolina, was awarded in 1993. What was BOOMING in the late 80s and early 90s. As hard as it is to believe today, NASCAR. And where was NASCAR big? North Florida and the Carolinas. The NFL panicked. It could have waited just a few years and saw stock car racing flame out, as it did.

- COLLEGE FOOTBALL. This is a college market. It just is. The Gators and the Seminoles, and the Bulldogs if you live across the St. Marys River, are just always going to be more important.

- The NFL has stuck them with this London deal. Jacksonville is the least internationally connected (discounting Green Bay) of all NFL cities. The theory that people in other countries should follow the team because of its owner has always struck me as kinda goofy, if not worse.

IMHO, its just a matter of time until the team gets shopped around to other places. It just isn’t going to make it there.

College coaches who transition to the NFL have to realize that the players mean more to the organization than they do. They can't be all "high & mighty" like they were back in the NCAA, which is why very few collegiate coaches successfully transition to the pro's.

As the kicking incident was reported to the Jaguar legal dept, then it probably could be used to fire with cause.

Revisiting my fatalistic fan schtick...

Tonight's the night the Chargers take the West and the Chiefs won't get it back, setting up for round 3 in January in LA.

Think they'll be too much offense for a limited defense that will sorely miss 3 of it's best players - Sneed, Gay and Jones.

If the Chiefs win, it'll be thanks to finally finding a running game, sustained successful drives to limit the Chargers offensive opportunities. The kind of gameplan the Chiefs usually have seen attempted against them. Maybe Melvin Ingram can have a successful revenge game, too.

London. Kahn wants London IMO. I think in a few years we're going to see a number of additional NFL games in Europe. Recently read that Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, or Munich were in the mix to host the first game in Germany. But with the Jags in particular, Kahn is committed to Jacksonville, as is his heir. Things change, sure, but seems for the past decade this has been pretty consistent. The shortcomings in the market I think they'll continue to supplement with their London ambitions.

Hell, imagine an entire expansion over there, the next expansion of the NFL is expected to be 2-4 teams... what if they were all in the EU. In the age of COVID the logistics are even wilder, but I think a lot can be done to help normalize that for teams between schedules and other technology / science to assist with jet lag, etc. A lot of issues/challenges involved with any of that... but I think we'll see it in our lifetimes.

Speaking on international stuff, NFL designated 'home team international markets'. I'd be interested in the history for some of these, like why only the Rams in China and Australia... many teams with none at all, some teams duplicated (Miami in Brazil and Spain I can rationalized, but Chiefs in Germany and Mexico?), and no Bills in Canada?
