NFL 2024-2025 Season

Went in the BILLS favor? Like the ghost holding call on Deion Dawkins in the first drive that didn’t happen? The THREE times Bills players were thrown to the ground after a play, once taking an official down and PI that even Nantes and Romo called that wasn’t called in the 4th quarter?
Yeah, I needed to double check it a couple times, because I swore I was watching a soccer game last night with all the falling and teammates arms in the air wondering why a penalty wasn't called. I knew it had to be the NFL because they kept touching the ball with their hands, but still, the looks at the refs every time there was contact a bit much.

I blame the NFL. Personally, I have no idea what a late hit is anymore. We are technically in the 'let them play' part of the season. Yes, the Chiefs have had an unequal amount of good grace with the refs.

amazing.livextop.com? Couldn't possibly be clickbait. No way in heck am I clicking that link!

If it were the "bribery deal of the century", it'd make the real news.
I clicked on it. No ads whatsoever on the page and it originates in Vietnam...known for their breaking NFL News coverage. 🤣

Ads suck, but I'd be more concerned about scripts in the background.

This is another one of those, 'you really should be able to tell it is a lie by just looking at the link, forget processing the headline'. Clickbait like this should be obvious.

Correction. There are ads. Lots of them which were blocked by my ad blocker in Firefox. 😁

I am well aware of the dangers.

Sounds more like poor coaching? How about calls that actually effect and change a game? I would find that far more interesting. We have all seen with are own eyes!
Guess who has had the most touchdowns overturned by penalty? Or do those not change the game either.

Poor coaching? lol. Reid would probably have been coach of the year a few times if it wasn't for the high expectations of the Chiefs every year.

Like the Super Bowl and the holding call against the Eagles, in a penalty that was not remotely "letting them play" sort of penalty. Killed what would have been a very interesting end of game drive. Sucked all the life out of that game.

It's not the number of calls or the yards, it the timing, normally at the very end of the game in WAY too many games this year

Still largely blown out of proportion. NFL refs (and a number of rules even) are just not that great, enforcement is uneven from play to play and every mistake is hyper-examined in real time on social media in slow motion from several angles.

Combine that with the cyclical hate machine for whichever team is on top longer than an initial shot at the Super Bowl and that's what you have with the Chiefs.

Chiefs have a lot of roster issues, but ultimately are a team that doesn't do much to beat themselves, and is largely why they've been as successful as they have, with good coaching (like the blocked FG to beat Denver) often written off as luck.

Well my message to the Bills is pretty simple. Tell Milano not to even breathe on Mahones or he'll be called for RTP. Even a snarky glance may get the referee's flag.
And don’t forget about DPI…. the call normally made on those last-minute game-winning drives

Mahomes's flopping and tiptoeing down the sidelines, trying to get defenders to hit him out of bounds, is an absolute disgrace to the game.

Sporting News pointed it out in 2023

Texans game

I mean, this is a common conversation on every sports forum and the Bills, having played the Chiefs So many times over the last 7 years, we see it every game.

The NFL could make all penalties reviewable, with the resultant delay in the game flow. Likewise, if the crew overseeing the games spots something the refs on the field missed, they could drop a virtual flag to sort things out.

Eventually technology will advance to the point where an algorithm in the AWS cloud will be able to make the call based on all the camera angles and take the human referees off the field.

They already have that to a degree ... if they see a penalty, the booth Can call it .. it happens, not often, but it does happen.

The trouble is pass interference is a wickedly ridiculous penalty to call. I'm never quite certain what it is supposed to be, especially when you "let them play." And the games nature makes things like targeting and unnecessary roughness even harder to manage. I still think helmets and shoulder pads should be eliminated.

One potential option is to take targeting and unnecessary roughness out of the hands of the refs. These are serious penalties that need a consistent threshold. Give that to a central viewing crew who can look at replays and call it up. It'd slow down the game a bit, but lets be honest, the game is slow as heck already with 15 minutes of actual gameplay per game, across three hours of coverage.
