We just had super severe bad weather roll thru the St Louis area and lost Sat signal. In the past when this happened I would go to the guide and select an OTA channel so we could monitor the local TV channel and follow the bad weather. Doesn't work any more. I get a popup that says can't access this feature. This is happening on both my Hopper Plus and Hopper 3. I guess I will have to install a 2-way switch in the OTA cable going the Hopper and run a second cable direct to the TV.

I can't believe you can't tune to OTA local on Hopper when Sat reception fails! Why would Dish do that?
:wtf2
Have you tried tuning to the Sat local directly then channel up or down depending on how your guide is set up?

I tried everything. I did not have Sat signal for both Hoppers. The only thing that worked was the Hopper recordings folder & I could also get to the apps thru the home button. So we watched recordings & apps. Reason for no sat was a GFCI had popped cutting power to the DPH42 switch. Sat signal working good now. In the past I could always get to OTA local channels thru the guide when sat signal was lost. This needs to be fixed.

It might well be that your issue was caused by no power to the 42 switch. That messes up the hybrid side of your Hoppers. You might have been able to reach your OTA channels if you had lost just the satellite signal. Just musing here.

Good point. When ever I get a no Sat signal outage again I will check it out. Thanks
