Old Rca And New Remote

Will an RC23 operate an old RCA DRD 420 or do i need to get the RC24?
I know the RC16 will not.

It will work!
With the receiver on, make sure the mode switch is under the DirecTV logo and press and hold the mute and select keys untill the green like behind the directv logo flashes twice. Once it flashes, enter the following 5-digit code: 00392
That should do it.
