OTA without Satellite Acquisition on VIP-622

During severe storms, sometimes I will not be able to acquire a satellite signal. The screen that appears is error 015. I do get my HD locals via OTA, but cannot bypass the error screen. Am I missing something? Is it possible to just watch OTA when no satellite is available?

I get an error that says I am unable to access this feature...data is not available. I reset the box and it's locked on acquiring a satellite signal still. Maybe it needs to lock onto a signal before you can use OTA???

They must have taken this feature out. I thought there was a requirement if sattelte signal was lost you had to get to locals in case of emergencys.

I can easily turn to an ota station when it rains by going throught the menu then 1 program guide. I should no we just got through over 16 days straight of rain and bad weather. IF you wait to long after you lose signal then all bets are off.

It looks like I'm out of luck. I just don't understand why you can't view OTA locals without first having a connection to the satellite.

622's must be activated before you can use the OTA tuner. If you are unplugging it then, yes, you must accuire signal before viewing OTA.

On the 622, if you loose satellite, you cannot access OTA.

You must subscribe to service to use the DVR and the OTA on the 622; so if you don't see the satellite, the receiver assumes you don't have service. Guess that is the way they ensure ViP 622 owners subscribe to programming.

I've never heard that, I think all Dish receivers with ATSC tuners make it difficult to tune locals without a satellite signal and none will cold boot and allow tuner use without first going through all of the initial satellite steps.
