Of course, it's HC2 Broadcasting Holdings Inc, which can barely keep their stations up and running 24/7 as it is. They do NOT monitor any of them in real time!

The only bright side is that it potentially mucks up the ATSC 3.0 debacle. hehe.
Still loving the fact there are NO ATSC 3.0 stations in my market, none in one of the adjacent markets (Knoxville which I can pick up decently), and very little in the other adjacent market (Asheville, not receivable here, Mtns are in the way).

OK, everybody in the room with a 5G capable TV raise your hand. Hmmmm. What's that you say, only tablets and smartphones? And only those capable of casting? And only to a TV capable of casting? "Revolutionary" is not the word that comes to mind but then no one ever accused the FCC of having a mind of their own. They will probably approve the idea and then you can set it up there on the back shelf with ATSC 3.0.

Competition is generally a good thing. There were competing standards for the original NTSC color standard before the backwards compatible standard took hold.

Considering the FCC ultimately mandated sole use of the backwards-compatible standard, and only after the non-backwards-compatible standard had completely failed, I'm not sure that's really applicable here.

I think the better comparison is AM stereo. There were some four or five standards and the FCC decided to let the market decide. AM stereo ultimately failed entirely and no longer exists for all intents and purposes.
