Panasonic Release new Blue ray dvd player/recorder in Japa

I have posted the link to the release of the new blue ray dvd recorder release by Panasonic in Japan in time for the Olympics. It records up to 4 1/2 hours on a single disc. The article speaks for itself. Hopefully the era of blue ray high def dvd's is around the corner.

That would probably be only 4 1/2 hours of SD, not HD. HD takes up 6 times the bandwidth that SD would so wouldnt that make it 45 minutes of HD space on a DVD if it can hold 4 1/2 hours of SD (depending on the quality of the HD).

I think the blueray disc is 20 gig, not sure but somewhere in that region...

If you guys would bother to actually check out the link - it breaks it out.

The discs are between 25-50 GB. The 50 GB disk CAN hold 4.5 hours of HD programming.
