PIP not showing ON Option

I have an HR44 receiver for several years. Until the last several months, when I navigated to the PIP option, there was an "ON" choice and an "OFF" choice. Now, when I navigate to that option, it only shows the "OFF" option along with all the choices (upper left, side by side, etc). The ON choice is no longer there. I am able to click on one of the view choices, but then the receiver freezes and I need to restart it. Any idea how I can get the "ON" option to start showing again?

It might help to get a time machine. I'm not sure where you found the PIP option in recent Genie software. What version of software is your HR44 running? Stuart Sweet wrote a blog about PIP a couple of years ago. You can read it by clicking on THROWBACK THURSDAY: When picture-in-picture was still (almost) a thing.

I can recall having PIP on my HR44 at the time of it becoming a "headless" server for my regular Gemini, which was back in December of 2023.

There is not an On option. To turn it on you select where you want the PIP screen to appear which does turn it on.

My HR54-500 has the PIP option running 0x1BE7.

OK, I was wrong. I am too used to the Gemini client. On a HR44 or HR54 the PIP option is on the channel banner brought up by the INFO button. The various position options for the PIP picture are all "ON" buttons. So you can select where you want it when you turn it on, or if it is on, you can turn it off. This still works with the latest Genie software.
