Since they said, they determine the price based on the hard drive, there would be an option hopefully, you could be replacing the hard drive with a bigger one like you can do it on a TiVo.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper"><blockquote data-attributes="" data-quote="Scott Greczkowski" data-source="post: 1230319" class="bbCodeBlock bbCodeBlock--expandable bbCodeBlock--quote js-expandWatch"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-title"> <a href="/xen/goto/post?id=1230319" class="bbCodeBlock-sourceJump" rel="nofollow" data-xf-click="attribution" data-content-selector="#post-1230319">Scott Greczkowski said:</a> </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-content"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandContent js-expandContent "> I say either $399 or $499. </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandLink js-expandLink"><a role="button" tabindex="0">Click to expand...</a></div> </div> </blockquote><br /> I was afraid you were gonna say that, because I believe your range will be the closest.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Tivo, for example, takes a big time bath on Tivo HD at $299, and hopes to make it back with subscriptions. This box won&#039;t be as advanced, but won&#039;t have any subcription costs either. I&#039;m guessing around $400.<br /> <br /> To the guys who said $200, good luck. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f609.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=";)" title="Wink ;)" data-smilie="2"data-shortname=";)" /></div>

<div class="bbWrapper">I&#039;d probably consider buying at around $150-200 .. after all it does not do much more than any cheap second hand PC could do with the right software and a decent capture card ... probably be 12 months before it gets to that price though .... Launch I&#039;m thinking $299. I just hope they don&#039;t think they have something worth much more than it actually is. - I suspect that they will price closer to $500-$600 at launch though and i&#039;m sure you will be able to &quot;upgrade&quot; your box to get a full 10 day guide for an extra $5 per month etc etc etc ...</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Common guys......I really want to see this in the $149 range - if not $99 <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /><br /> <br /> It&#039;s an OTA tuner box ($40-50) with a hard drive ($50) and whatever Echostar decides to charge for their software ($0-$400)<br /> <br /> That is the real question!</div>

<div class="bbWrapper"><blockquote data-attributes="" data-quote="masterdeals" data-source="post: 1230374" class="bbCodeBlock bbCodeBlock--expandable bbCodeBlock--quote js-expandWatch"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-title"> <a href="/xen/goto/post?id=1230374" class="bbCodeBlock-sourceJump" rel="nofollow" data-xf-click="attribution" data-content-selector="#post-1230374">masterdeals said:</a> </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-content"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandContent js-expandContent "> Common guys......I really want to see this in the $149 range - if not $99 <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /><br /> <br /> It&#039;s an OTA tuner box ($40-50) with a hard drive ($50) and whatever Echostar decides to charge for their software ($0-$400)<br /> <br /> That is the real question! </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandLink js-expandLink"><a role="button" tabindex="0">Click to expand...</a></div> </div> </blockquote><br /> AMEN that! Especially the part with the price for the &quot;Software&quot;<img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /><br /> <br /> The REAL listing should look like that (The actual value of the components):<br /> <br /> OTA Tuner box: $40-50<br /> Hard Drive : $50-60<br /> Software : $5<br /> <br /> So the price range would be between $95-115<br /> <br /> This sounds acceptable to me <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /></div>

<div class="bbWrapper">BTW, I hope the TR-50 won&#039;t reboot on OTA HD all the time like ALL three of my 622&#039;s and my 722 did alot! <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /><img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /><img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /></div>

<div class="bbWrapper">$279 + $49.99 enabling fee <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f609.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=";)" title="Wink ;)" data-smilie="2"data-shortname=";)" /> <br /> <br /> The big question I have is will you be able to add other HD&#039;s for free via USB? And the next cliff hanger for me. Will it record non-encrypted mode? I&#039;m hoping they will let us pull and modify the recordings since you can easily do this with the other load of PC tuner devices out there.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper"><blockquote data-attributes="" data-quote="digiblur" data-source="post: 1230508" class="bbCodeBlock bbCodeBlock--expandable bbCodeBlock--quote js-expandWatch"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-title"> <a href="/xen/goto/post?id=1230508" class="bbCodeBlock-sourceJump" rel="nofollow" data-xf-click="attribution" data-content-selector="#post-1230508">digiblur said:</a> </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-content"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandContent js-expandContent "> $279 + $49.99 enabling fee <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f609.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=";)" title="Wink ;)" data-smilie="2"data-shortname=";)" /> <br /> <br /> The big question I have is will you be able to add other HD&#039;s for free via USB? <div class="bbWrapper">I&#039;m going to guess $300. Unlike the tivo this box does not have to support cable so they don&#039;t need to pay for the parts for cable card, the cable lab fees and related patent license fees.<br /> <br /> Maybe they will sell the box close to cost and make it up selling pay downloads to the box.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper"><blockquote data-attributes="" data-quote="yardline" data-source="post: 1230506" class="bbCodeBlock bbCodeBlock--expandable bbCodeBlock--quote js-expandWatch"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-title"> <a href="/xen/goto/post?id=1230506" class="bbCodeBlock-sourceJump" rel="nofollow" data-xf-click="attribution" data-content-selector="#post-1230506">yardline said:</a> </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-content"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandContent js-expandContent "> I&#039;d only pay $150 tops. </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandLink js-expandLink"><a role="button" tabindex="0">Click to expand...</a></div> </div> </blockquote><br /> Then NO SOUP FOR YOU!</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">For anything over $300, I&#039;d get a TiVo. Get the Lifetime Subscription and after three to four years, it&#039;s still worth over $400.<br /> <br /> I have a Series 2 and was offered Lifetime for an HD. That&#039;s only for current Lifetime Subscribers on a special promotion, but I&#039;m almost sure that it will be offered again.<br /> <br /> I&#039;m waiting to see if they will support HD with and IR blaster for the DTV converter box with the $40 coupons.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">It can only do OTA right??? I don&#039;t think it&#039;s worth more than $200. Hard to say until we can see how the box performs.</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">If anyone buys this for over 100.00 they are ignorant, IMO. They are selling the -40 model for 40.00. I cannot see the -50 model being anything other than the -40 model with a hard drive and a couple more outputs. Anything over 100.00 I&#039;ll be looking for something else. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" /><br /> <br /> Heck fellas you can buy a FTA/ATSC receiver that will record to a hard drive for 300.00. Why buy JUST an OTA recorder for that? <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f615.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt="" title="Confused " data-smilie="5"data-shortname="" /><br /> <br /> <blockquote data-attributes="" data-quote="Scott Greczkowski" data-source="post: 1230319" class="bbCodeBlock bbCodeBlock--expandable bbCodeBlock--quote js-expandWatch"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-title"> <a href="/xen/goto/post?id=1230319" class="bbCodeBlock-sourceJump" rel="nofollow" data-xf-click="attribution" data-content-selector="#post-1230319">Scott Greczkowski said:</a> </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-content"> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandContent js-expandContent "> I say either $399 or $499. </div> <div class="bbCodeBlock-expandLink js-expandLink"><a role="button" tabindex="0">Click to expand...</a></div> </div> </blockquote> <br /> If anyone buys one for that price they deserve whatever they get. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f631.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt="" title="Eek!" data-smilie="9"data-shortname="" /><img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f641.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":(" title="Frown :(" data-smilie="3"data-shortname=":(" /></div>
