R10 dvr video format?

For starters...I own this box. Dead box, hard drive ok. I was thinking of connecting to a usb adapter and seeing if I could watch the programs. Is it something like mpeg-ts or similar? If not I'll just format the drive and use it in a computer.

Format it if you can; the files system is EXT3+XFS, events are encrypted. No way to play these on PC.
