RT, like CCTV can be unintentionally funny with their effort to always point out the flaws and negatives of "free market/capitalism" and democracy, but never seem to report with balance on Putin's corrupt nation nor how the Chinese people are brutally forced from their homes because the govt. wants to build a new glittering building or high-speed rail. While our press is certainly biased to our attitudes of economics and form of government, our press is and people all willing to point out what's wrong and corrupt in our nation. Meanwhile no one dare criticize Moscow or Beijing, or else. I wonder how Putin and China would have dealt with "Occupy" protesters in their country. Oh, wait. We've already seen how in past situation, and it aint pretty.

This is a great addition by Dish as it's a nice change to the talking heads on the major corporate (tabloid) news channels. My local PBS station carries RT on a subchannel but only for 30 minutes a couple of times/day so now I can watch it whenever.

280 seems like an odd location for news, but great anyway.

I have dish america and my parents have dish family. Since the RT news channel doesn't come in those packages I was hoping to add the international basic package onto those packages. Whether it be dish america, welcome, or family. I was told this is not possible. It needs to be fixed to where I can be able to add that to my packages that I already have. Now I also would love to see France 24 english but since I can't add this package I am pretty much SOL and dish network is loosing money from me.

Alot of it has to do with the Int'l Basic having channels on 118.7

I have Welcome Pack and wouldnt mind some of those as a "Int'l alacarte" package

As mentioned you would first need to get the 118 satellite, and I believe you would need to pay for the instillation, I also believe having a higher package will not get you the international basic package, you have to have a core international package first. I would bet this is per the international providers.
If these are important to you, get a Roku, most all are available, and at no cost.

Well first of all I don't have fast internet like most so the streaming is a no go. Second of all I already have a international 118.7 dish so I am set to get those channels as I upgraded a few years back to get EURO NEWS. I wish one day I could have atleast 5-6 MBPS down but as of right now I am lucky to get 768 down and with a 50 GIG per month cap

but the issue is the Int'l basic pack is for those subs who want just International channels and need a package on the account
It can;'t be added to an existing customer's account that has AT120 or above as example

so for fun I went into my account and selected "International Basic" to see what it would do

gave me this error
The core package you selected requires at least one International package to proceed.

so that $10 would end up being $20 as the least expensive int'l channel is $9.99

Also if you already sub to a package (ATXX, metal packages, DishLatino) that qualifies for a base package which would null out the option to get Int'l basic

I guess so. Well its too bad it wasn't added to dish america. I just can't upgrade to the top 120 Maybe one day I will be able to get a FTA system up for RT and AJE news. That is if I don't run out of time.

While it is about a channel it is a very slippery slope.
If you like the channel great. If you dont like it don't turn to it. That goes for any of the news channels be it CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, Fox News, Current, Free Speech TV, Russia Today, CCTV, or any other channel out there. Thats why they created clickers....to change the channel

No, no, no, my apologies. It's just that I've wanted AJE for so long and then to see RT added, I just went off the handle....completely.

But I still want to know how the deal was struck.

I agree with you on AJE, I watch it on my ROKU and the reporting on it is some of the best I have seen from any channel.

Without getting political a lot of people have a picture in their mind of what this channel is without ever seeing it. I would say that the reporting is much like the BBC... in fact most of the reporters are British.

sad part is Russia Today when it started was a good news channel that just reported the news. Then they started turning into most US news channels where they have a "view" and like to hammer that point home
