Well depends on your actual meaning of reliable .. what channels are you looking to use? Personally I would not choose either one for lack of DVB-S2

nfusion receivers are **Mainly** used to steal Dish Network & Bell TV. They are really bad for FTA

Sonicview is older and unless you find one pretty cheap I know of others that are better. Coolsat 8000/8100 can do DVB-S2 and work really well. Only drawback is no blind scan

Both are pretty much worthless as they do not get dvb-s2, if you want a receiver for dvb-s2 many here have the Coolsat 8000/8100 or the Digiwave 9000.

May be you can take off its cover and tell us, what are exact full model numbers of its LG made ATSC and DVB tuners? In turn we can tell, what it could possibly do for you over time. Btw, how many extra holes in the back panel does it have for possible upgrade board coax connectors? There may be DVB-S2 board offered later...

Don't be confused with DVB-S MPEG-2 as it is not the same thing as DVB-S2 MPEG-2. A good HD receiver should support DVB-S or DVB-S2 with either MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 compression. As others have stated, don't waste your money on an nFusion or a Sonicview HD receiver as they don't support DVB-S2. Instead, get a CoolSat 8000/8100, Pansat 9200 (with DVB-S2 board) or an Azbox if you want the best.

I am no supporter of the Pansat HD, but to give you all the possible choices, they're worth mentioning.
The 9000 is now discontinued. If you got one cheap, it might be pretty nice.
The 9200 can now be had with an S2 blind scan tuner, and it's a possibility.

You can find more info on any of these receivers by searching the forum (some have reviews).
We even have one on the Sonicview 8000, if that helps.
But I would be very shy about spending a lot of money on one,or especially an nFusion!
As always, your mileage may vary, and a $20 or $50 deal on a receiver might give you enough of a taste to get you into the game.

I wish I could get an HD sat receiver for $20 for my new HDTV in the bedroom. Btw, the OP deserved explanation, why Nfusion HD said to be a lot worse than SV 8000? Who set the scale to measure them all, and based on what criteria set?

Quick question does the AZbox have a OTA tuner and can it record ATSC and satellite at the same time like my Sonicview 8000? and can it show HD theater that has been free for many years now?

Also does it ship with two tuners or you have to get the second tuner extra ATSC or Satellite

The azbox right now does not have a OTA tuner but may be possible in the future. The neat thing is if AZbox created a card for US OTA (not World which is already out), you just plug it into the reciever and thats it

If I am not mistaken you can stream video from a computer to an Nfusion HD receiver.

Why people keep mentioned the AZbox when the main title of the post is SV8000HD vs Nfusion HD??? In order for us to get the max out of a mentioned post we should stick to the main reason of the post. I wil like to read about what the title of the post is for. Can you imagine more than 20 post, multiple pages and everybody is talking about something that is not included in the main post???
