The installer is probably stilll trying to borrow a ladder from one of his neighbors.![]()
Sadly, you don't hear from hundreds of people who get installed, with no problems, every day.... Don't assume it will go bad.Tomorrow morning I get Dish Network installed. After reading all the horror stories about certain installers I am kind of worried. I just hope everything goes ok.
Boy, that's the talking of an optimist there !! You do realize it could mean he/she is new, screws up and has to re-do work, and so on ?Possibly having the installer show up late is a good thing. It shows that he takes his time and gets the job done right. When I had DirecTV installed the installer didn't ground the dish and just ran the coax in our gutters just to save time.
The Dish installer should have grounded the DISH!
Question:
My wife likes to view another program while recording another. Since the VIP722 is being used in dual mode supporting 2 TV's is this possible? I believe I read a thread once that explained how to switch between the tuners using the UHF remote.
Absolutely, always!
OP, your entire AV system is at risk without the system being grounded. I would at least route the cables through a good quality surge protector in the meantime. I recommend always using a good surge protector.
Dig through the menus and find "Record Plus" and make sure it's enabled. Now when something is going to be recorded, by default, and if TV2 is not being used, it will record on TV2's tuner. TV1 will be free to use for regular, live viewing.Question:

Not sure if this will help, but I will give it a shot. First, I need some more information (or will make assumptions that hopefully will be helpful). We have all 5 of our tvs hooked up to our 722 and our 625. We did this by combining the outputs from each receiver into splitters and then running a cable out to each tv. While it is not 100% like we want it, it works. You would just need to switch the modulator channels so each tuner in the box is set to a different channel. If you are using the "Home Distribution" (Coax) output on the 722, you will need to turn the modulator on for Tuner 1 and then the Coax output will see Tuner 1 and 2 (simply by changing the channel on the tv).
As for TV1, you can (if you have extra inputs) run an RCA (Red, Yellow, White) cable from the 722 to the TV which would allow you to see both tuners by switching the input.
Hope that helps. If not, please provide more questions and I will try to answer them.

I hate to say it but mabey he should call the installer back to ground off the switch/cable & dish........ I say that is a poor install if it aint grounded. If he didn't ground anything then I could just imagine how the install looks. Bet he didn't use pitchpatch & used staples on the cable not to mention clear barrels.......OMG
congrats and i really am jealous of that sign up special you got, man to get that and ad 722 I would flip if I could get that setup
I use single mode as I love picture in picture as I am always recording two shows while watching a third. Hell, I even played back a second show meaning I was recording two and playing back two at the same time. No idea how it even can handle that but it does
You going to get an ext HD and network the 722 ?

Because we are currently only using TV2 I guess I would disable this option to have it always record using TV1?
