It is that time of the month, when Live TV Providers start reporting their quarterly reports.

First up Verizon Fios, with a loss of 60,000 Video subscribers, but had great gains with their Fios Broadband and 5G Service, +408,000.

Fios Video service is down to 2.68M subscribers.

Charter and Comcast report next week.

Would that be the time of the quarter? ;)

Prefer time of the month, trying to inject a little bit of humor into the post, since so many supporters of Traditional Providers take it so seriously.

Comcast lost 311,000 Video Subscribers in the 4th Quarter.

Total lost for the year…..1,583,000.

Also lost 139,000 Broadband Subscribers in the 4th Quarter.

They may take these reports seriously, but I don't take anyone seriously who brag about getting their tv only bill "down" to $150/month. LOL 😂

Well I noticed on my Spectrum bill that they are still finding ways to make more money. I had a 12 month promotion for internet 300 speed for $63. 60 a month. That was in May and I saw my bill go up by $2.00, because they started charging for Wifi tower we have at $5.00 and that was in July and our speed went to 500. Then by fall it went up to $7.00 for the same tower. This month for February they went up another $3.00 to $10.00 for Wifi. I get a $5.00 discount for autopay. But now my bill is at $68.36 and now my speed is at 600 and supposedly no extra increase. Right......But without the wifi tower we would have trouble having everything connected to the internet and it does reach through out the house and even the yard . But sneaky the way they keep passing on these charges when the whole reason I set up the promotion was to save money.

Just buy a router if you want to avoid the charge, at $10 a month, it would be quickly paid off.

My modem ( the ones Charter provided was garbage) and have 4 routers, all owned by myself.

Verizon charges me $28/month for my router, which I replaced without telling them. Then they subtract $28 as a modem credit. So I’d gain nothing by telling them.

Charter/Spectrum lost 123,000 video subscribers in the 4th Quartet, 1,176,000 for all of the year, 8.7% of their total video subscribers.

Also lost 177,000 Broadband Subscribers.

Back in around 2010, my internet provider did that type of thing ....
It WAS Free with the initial set up back then ... then as time went by, they started to charge for it, first $4.99, a few years later it went to $7.99, then eventually to $10. Meanwhile its the very Same one that was FREE when I started.
Never understood how they felt they could charge for something that was Free to start with.

I did buy my own at one point, which worked well for awhile then after it slowed down and started giving me issues, I gave up.

all these people getting rid of broadband shocks me. Where are they getting internet from? I can't believe it's home 5G because those services are just as expensive, slower, and pretty lackluster in reliability

For slower and lackluster, depends on where you live, if you have a close proximity to a tower, speeds and the connection will be greatly improved.

For pricing, the most I have seen for 5G, is around the $50-60 range, which could be less expensive, depending on your speed and if you are not in a contract with a discount/deal with a broadband provider.

Also, Fiber companies are encroaching Comcast/Charter territories, for example, even in my area, Quantum Fiber has already planted/hung the wire in my subdivision, just waiting for when they are ready to do the install ( 6 months late now).

As soon as that happen, Charter and it’s $130 a month bill (gigabit down, icky 40 up) goes bye bye, Quantum is $70 for 2 down/up.

I left Spectrum for T-Mobile 5G Home Internet and I was very pleased with it except after being with the for a few months it started dropping in the evening from 7 pm to 10 pm. Speeds were in the 300-500 Mbps up and about 250 Mbps down…except that 7 pm to 10 pm window where it dropped down under 100/100 Mbps. It was running me $50 per month where I had been paying Spectrum $80 per month for 300/10 Mbps service. Then fiber became available for $70 per month for 1000/1000 Mbps service. Real happy with that.
