Hello all!

I've been chasing an issue with my receiver that I mentioned in another thread. What I have determined is that something happened during the update on my machine from L441 to L443.

With L441 I connected my ViP622 via broadband and everything worked just fine. When I received L443 on 9/4/07, I started getting the 588 error screen (see the Tech Portal for more info).

I contacted Dish Tech Support last week and didn't get very far. Tonight I had some time to wait on hold so I tried again. It took a couple of transfers to get to someone at advanced tech support who was able to follow my description of the problem. All three people I talked to had no idea that the broadband connection could be used instead of a land-based phone line.

My account was updated to remove connection charges and my issue was reported to engineering.

If you are seeing the same issue, please call tech support to let them know. Hopefully you will have an easier time reporting the issue!

Cheers,
Red

I also spoke with someone at "Advanced Tech" earlier this week and he seemed clueless. Told me Dish had no issues with broadband connection being able to "phone home" to Dish, and the problem must be with my ISP. At least he was aware of the broadband connection capability......

Really pathetic IMO.

A nice lady in billing did remove two $5.00 access fees from my bill though. I guess I'll be calling billing every month until Dish gets their act together.

I am having the same issue on my 622. I emailed tech support and they directed me to the tech website. Then they said, if that didn't work, there was basically nothing they could do and that it was my responsibility.
No $5 charge yet, and no call out pending so I guess it is working. I hate getting that message though and it makes my wife get on my case about it.

625 says switch is bad...can I fix?

So, Does Dish Respond Today?
