Tv activity on dish hopper 3

I just got hopper 3 with sling I do not like that each joey can access tv activity, is there a way to isolate joeys from having access to that information.

The Joeys were able to access the TV activity screen on other Hopper systems as well. My only though is maybe set up locks at the Joeys

Is there any other way to isolate joeys to be independent, I had the impression that each joey would be it's own entity. We have a mother in law suite and do not like that the residents have access to everything we are doing watching and recording.

There is not. The Joey is a client and the Hopper 3 is the host. This requires access to the H3 to work

So what would happen if I attached an isolator to the joeys.

The isolater is for use between Hoppers to make each invisible to the other. If you tried to isolate a Joey from its Hopper there would be no signal to the Joey.

Did the OP not understand how a whole home DVR works? Did he not ask Dish if what he wanted was possible. From Genie to TiVo to Hoppers, they ALL are whole home DVR systems and work the way with all clients seeing the HOST DVR. Of course, with DISH, one can ISOLATE ONE Hopper from the other. I am unaware of TiVo being capable of isolating any client to ONLY a particular DVR. Yes, one can only have one HOST DVR with TiVo, but I can still see all the other DVR's in the house and can access and stream for any of the S4 and S5 TiVo's, and at least LOOK and peruse at all the recordings on the older S3/HD TiVo's (streaming not supported on S3/HD units). In other words, I am unaware of ANY whole home DVR system doing what the OP wants because they just don't see the need for it, but it would be a nice option.

This brings me to the thing I have been asking Dish to provide for many years: the ability to at least install a SEPARATE DVR like a Wally on our account for that person we DO NOT want on our Hopper network. I don't think the OP's situation or what he wants is unreasonable, but Dish should really look at this and see if they can come up with a solution or policy or business practice that can address this. It is my understanding that the Wally is allowed only as an RV box, not in the home with an existing account? I don't remember exactly.

The solution for the OP is to have TWO Hoppers w/Sling (although no multiple Hopper 3 installs allowed by Dish unless each H3 has its own account), one Hopper for the snoop, and one for him and family, then each Hopper will NOT see each other and the snoops client can not see the family's Hopper.

Let us know how you get this resolved or if you will live with it.

I'm sure Dish would be happy to solve the problem with a separate account. As said above, there was also a solution with 2 HWS boxes and an isolator. Why should they be responsible for more?

I thought Dish already allowed one 211/Wally to be active on a Hopper account? Not a perfect solution, but you could add an EHD for limited DVR capabilities, and be separate of the Hopper system.

I originally spoke with dish several times and I told them my situation,they never explained that everyone would have access to everyone else's viewing as well as recordings. I asked if each joey was attached to each tv and never dreamed we'd all be interconnected. I explained we had as mother In law suite attached to out home and we had 6 tvs. One of the customer service rep said we would probably want 2 hoppers and 4 joeys. The installer called before he came out and said it would work better to have 1 hopper and 5 joeys. Each time I called them I was told something different regarding how It could be set up. WStill not knowing about the interconnection situation I went along with it. So now I'm stuck with it unless someone can come up with a solution.

For one reason if my husband would watch the Simpsons for example that would be something they would look down on so I constantly feel like i have to be conscience of everything that might pop up on the tv activity which mean I have to make sure we don't leave the tuners on certain channel where something comes up on the activity even if we aren't actually watching it. I didn't think I would have to worry about those types of things when I signed up for this. That would be the reason.
