Hey guys, I just got a VIP622, and have a question about the remotes... I have an extra 8.0 with UHF Pro written on it, but no 1 or 2 at the bottom of it... I can change the channel of the remote, and hit record, and it will change the TV 2 setting every time. How can I get it to change the TV 1 setting? It just says IR and will not show IR/UHF for TV1. I can't find a setting for TV1 UHF like my old 522 had. Can someone help? Thanks.

The ViP622 will only work by UHF if the unit is in single mode. In dual mode, only TV2 works by UHF. I wish they would have left this feature in the software.

RCDallas,

Is there a way to put a blue chip into a UHF Pro 8.0 remote? I have tried to remove the chip on my 8.0 remote and it doesn't come out. I got the feeling the 8.0 remote was built without the 4 position switch nor a removable chip.

Well, I just ordered a 6.2 with the green key with a black 1 on it from Ebay. $10 shipped. So we will see what it does.

Everything I have read tonight says the 6.2 and the 6.3 will work with the 622. I also believe once you get the receiver to switch TV1 to IR/UHF band A (not band B), you can use any UHF Pro remote. I know that my 8.0 and 6.0 remotes work fine on TV 2 on UHF Band A, so I would think they should run the TV1 once it is switched over... Not sure why it takes a special remote to switch it though.

use the 8.0 for tuner 2 and move the switch in side of the 6.3 thats for the tuner 2 and it will work with tuner one. when the switch is in the correct place cut a slot in one of the extra tabs to hold the switch in place and it will be good to go. thats how i have my 622 set up

so I would think they should run the TV1 once it is switched over... Not sure why it takes a special remote to switch it though.
It seems like a 6.3 remote should be able to control both TV1 and TV2, by just using different Remote Address codes. However, besides having to have different address codes, you also need to use the correct "key tab" on the remote.

I've tried using a 622 with both TV1 and TV2 using UHF PRO and the same remote address; but they seemed to interfer with each other, especially when both remotes are used at the same time.

NOTE: The Green Tab with Black 1, also has UHF PRO eched on it.

Also, if you decide to use the 6.3 TV2 Remote by removing the key tab and sliding the switch, then slide the switch to the right so it is in position 3 (of 4), or second position from your right when the remote is in the normal use position.

It's just weird I guess. I could use my UHF Pro (non-numbered) remote fine on TV1 or TV2 on my 522. There must just be something special about the freq's that the 622 uses...

Alright guys. I took my #2 remote that came with the 622 (a 6.3 I believe) and pulled the chip out, set the switch to the third to the right position, and changed the remote number to 3 (was 9)... I put it on the info screen, hit record, and poof, it set the TV1 remote to IR/UHF Pro Band A. So, I took my 8.0 remote, and set it to channel 3, and tried it. Woudn't work. So I changed it to channel 9 for the TV 2, and it worked fine. Apparently it's just not going to work with the TV1 side. I ended up just leaving the chip out of the 6.3 and writing a big 1 on the bottom where the chip would be and left it at that. I can use the 6.3 anywhere in the house for TV1 and my 8.0 remote for TV2 anywhere in the house. Its funny that my old 522 TV2 remote will work with the 622 on TV2 also, but not on TV1... Who knows.
