Not really a valid point since they had the new HD up already without having removed the VOOM channels. They've essentially made room for about 10 more national HD channels.
QVC-HD and 9 more HD PPV's are just around the corner...
The bottom line is dollars, because as stated before, DISH is a publicly owned company. If price were no object, Voom could be kept on Dish because theoretically no one would care that their bill is 5-10 dollars higher per month because Dish kept Voom and then added a large number of highly recognizable HD channels.
Your arguments made sense, except for the above one.
If it were just a matter of dollars, then Dish could have kept all of Voom and then moved it to a separate "Dish VoomHD" package for $5-$10.
If they are adding more recognizable titles for the "Dish HD Essentials" and "Dish HD Ultimate" package, that doesn't preclude offering Voom separately.
Perhaps they think there is not even enough interest to break even that way...
DING DING DING give that man a prize(he got brains)
Of course it was for pay per view dish makes money on PPV
We will see tomorrow if VOOM is removed and replaced by "known HD" channels. Uplinks tend to happen on Wednesdays....
The 10 Voom channels were removed at Midnight Eastern Time, without any other changes occurring.
I doubt that more will be removed tomorrow.
All indications are that the removal of the other 5 channels is a "threat" - otherwise they would have removed all 15 at once.
PS I hope they actually uplink the real 5-MAX-HD tomorrow !
Looks like it is all fixing to change.
