VIP 722k install in 5th wheel RV

I decided to post this as a new thread. I have a 5th wheel RV that has all the cabling already installed and would require a major teardown to add any additional cables. Although I am very mechanically capable, I don't know all the abbreviations or terms for this dish stuff. I just installed a Trav'ler DishProPlus Turbo HD dish with triple LNB (110, 119, 129) As best as I can tell, switching is done internally and only one coax is needed to feed my receiver. I have a DPP VIP 722k HD receiver. I have a DPP separator and a DPP triplexor at hand. There are two coax cables available to the dish. They both run down into the bedroom where one is for tv2 and the second coax continues on to tv1 where the receiver is also located. There is an OTA coax that runs from the wing antenna to a booster and then splits for tv1 & tv2.

The problem I have is in trying to hook the tv2 up. I was able to use the separator for sat1 & sat2 inputs. I used the OTA coax for the ch21-69 out and was able to get the dual receiver to operate correctly. Is there a way to use just the single sat coax with the triplexor back to the tv2 without using the OTA coax? It looks like that is how my home system is set up but I only have one coax to tv2 and can't tell where the cables split to the dish.

I'd appreciate any help and a drawing would be very useful.

These are the two setups using a diplexer, and a triplexer. Please note that these work in pairs

Matt! You are da man!:D
I would like to keep my OTA signal and pipe it through the receiver, for those "hard to see satellite" locations. I can connect it to the antenna input, right? Will that also be transmitted to tv2? Do I need a digital converter for my old analogue tv2?

Yes, so long as you have the OTA module in the 722k you can connect your OTA to the receiver. Yes, you will be able to see the channels on TV2.

No! The diplexers are always used in pairs to frequency multiplex OTA signals (well below 1GHz) with the sat signal (above 1GHz). Sometimes they're used to backfeed the TV2 RF output back up the dish antenna cable to TV2.

A separator is the thing that looks like a splitter that takes a DishPro Plus switch cable and separates it out for the two tuners in a duo receiver.

I have to say, it was well worth the time to register for this forum. I got quick answers to my dumb questions. Now, if I can just figure out why my smart card says S00000000000. I have to order one from Dish at the tune of $50. Ouch.

Thanks again Matt

Where'd you get the receiver from? I'm guessing there's not one in the front-left hand door

Skydanz is about to have the Echostar hit squad show up at his house to snatch up him and his hot receiver.
