Dumb question, but where (package-wise) will this be located? Will you need to subscribe to the superstations to get it?
Thanks Sparkman, now I can finally see the 12 o'clock news in glorious HD
Why change a thread about WGN HD into yet another Voom thread?
Because WGN America is another network that will air absolutely nothing worth watching, unless you are a baseball/Cubs fan. The Blackhawks will be blacked out as per NHL mandate.
Without VOOM, I have been doing a lot of reading. Finished two books this week.

Not necessarily true. The everything pack includes NBA TV, if you just have HD essential, you do not get the HD versionIf you received WGN before and have HD service you will receive the HD version. Sorry we were just providing an answer that we were sure of.
I am happy to see WGN America HD added for Cubs, White Sox, and Bulls in HD. I am a little concerned that those events will be the only HD content on this channel.
Is WGN a CW affiliate? If so, does that mean CW shows produced in HD such as "Aliens in America" will be in HD on this channel?
Speaking of, a good reason D* doesn't need WGN America HD: they've already got the MLB package, so if you want HD, they can make you pay for it that way.
WGN America is a weird combination of Local and National.
Most of the Cubs and White Sox games that are on WGN local would be on WGN America. Some of the Bulls (Not all) games would be on WGN America. And I have heard that some of the Black Hawks Games.
Other than that, None of the CW content would be on WGN America. So WGN America would be mostly syndicated stuff. Some new, some reruns. Kinda like TBS.
Locally, I was expecting Dish to pick up WCIU (Channel 26) as well in Chicago. Then they could say that Dish has All of the White Sox, Bulls, Cubs, Bears and Black Hawks games in HD, a statement that D* cannot make at this time.
I get them all over the air, but it would have been a good marketing opportunity for Dish. And still might be.
They could also add Illinois football and basketball games to that, because at this point Comcast does not carry BTN.
If you live outside the Chicago DMA, maybe.
But if you live in the Chicago DMA
and
The Cubs or White Sox game is on WCIU or WGN
and
You have Directv and not OTA
YOU can't get the Cubs or White Sox game in HD. You can't get local market games on MLBEI. So you would not have access to it in HD.
