What I got for Christmas...

I got to see my 2 year old boy get all excited about getting some 97 cent toy cars. (I have to enjoy this while it lasts, before he gets older and wants $499 X-BOX 360 units)

I got to see my 6 week old girl resting comfortably (and quietly) in a basinette while I had Christmas dinner at the in-laws.

I got to see my wife happy to open the box containing the small gold charm that I gave her.

I also get the joy in knowing that we paid CASH for our Christmas gifts and won't be paying for Christmas for the next 3 or 4 months.

Just hang in there and try and explain that Christmas isn't about the money spent, but other more important things in life.

As it relates to satellite etc. I got a really nice power pack (12V battery with built in 400watt inverter, 12V socket, air pump etc.) so I no longer have to drag 200' of extension cord to the dish farm every time I want to make an adjustment (and so all the X-mas lights can stay plugged in!).

I will be teaching our kids the value of money, and how they need to save for things they want. I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan and listen to him on my XM radio all the time. He preaches the "debt free" life and how kids need to learn to save for things they want. I would never tell my boy that he can't have an XBOX 360, but he would have to save up for it and not go for one of those "No Payments for 6 months" deals that ropes you in We buy stuff all year-round too. It doesn't just have to wait for Christmas.. I bought a 4DTV unit on Ebay just 2 months ago. That was my early Christmas present to myself About 5 months ago I bought a Fortec Classic NA too.. Christmas doesn't just have to be on Dec 25th. And being frugal can be fun too...
