What's for dinner ?

Taste of Tremont

We went to a local street festival over the weekend. It took place in the heart of Cleveland's West Side Food District neighborhood of Tremont. Just about every notable restaurant in the area had a food stand. Their was also art and entertainment, but the main focus was food. Here is what we ate.....

Lamb Sliders with a pepered aioli sauce @ The Bistro on Lincoln Park, Pizza Slice @ Edison's Pizza Kitchen, Magic Hat IPA's @ 806, Mac & Cheese with a mint lemonade @ Lolita, Pirogi's @ Sokolowski's, Summerberry Shortcake with a berry limeade @ Lucky's, Backlava @ Istanbul Cafe, Chocolate Covered Frozen Banana with Nuts @ Tremont Scoops, Chocolate Ice Cream with Raw Honey @ Dante's, Cleveland Steak Sandwich and Watermelon Salad @ Fahrenheit.....

What a day! :hungry:

In our area this is called "Taste of Buffalo" I can never taste many things before I get full though :(

Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients:

Sausage, Peppers, Onions, Rice, Sauce, Breadcrumbs, Parmesan. (Some use ground meat, but I prefer sausage).

Instructions:

-Cook Rice. Brown Sausage. Dice equal parts onion and green pepper and saute in canola oil. Mix diced peppers, onions and cooked rice in with the sausage and season to taste.

-Slice open a green pepper, length wise and hollow out. Stuff the mixture into the pepper. Top with breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.

-Place stuffed peppers in baking dish with just enough sauce and water to coat the bottom of the pan.

-Bake at 400°F for about 20 minutes or until the skin on the pepper starts to peel back and the breadcrumbs start to brown.

Do you have tacos 3-4 times a week? :)

Since you eat them so much, do you have any secrets? Do you season the meat yourself, or just use ortega/old el paso/durkee seasoning out of the packet?

Lately, we've been having them almost every night. We just really like tacos. I just use Old el paso taco shells, walmart taco seasoning, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, ranch (if I feel like it) and Ortega Medium Taco Sauce.

Happy Hour at Michael Symon's Lolita

Despite the famous Pig Roast on Tuesday's at Lolita, we went their specifically for their inexpensive happy hour menu which is served during the hours of 5-6:30pm at the bar.

My wife started with a Margarita Martini with skyy vodka, cuervo, triple sec, gran gala, sour mix and a dash of cherry for $5. I got the $2 Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

For dinner, I ordered the infamous Lolita Burger, cooked medium rare with bacon, fried egg, aged cheddar and sauted red onion. My wife chose the Mussles with chorizo, garlic and parsley. Both dishes were a very affordable happy hour price of $5/ea. On the side, we shared a dish of Fried Brussels Sprouts with anchovies, capers, walnuts and chilies.

After a few more drinks and a Gelato for dessert, we ended up with a bill of less than $40! Amazing, considering we could've spent the same at Applebees, but instead got treated to the culinary masterpiece of Michal Symon's cuisine!

I must recommend with my highest regard for anybody in the Cleveland area, it is an absolute must for you to try this burger! Grilled to perfection, it's big and juicy. The cheese is melted and the bacon so crisp and the red onion to add a bit of sweetness. But what sets this burger apart from any other $5 burger I've ever had is the perfectly cooked fried egg on top. The yolk breaks as you bite into it and it covers the burger. Also, instead of a typical kaiser bun, the burger is served on a grilled English Muffin! So, any juices that run from the burger and egg is soaked up by the muffin. Genius! :hungry:

Oh, PS to the Detroit Foodies... Michael Symon opened his first place outside of Ohio on Washington Blvd. in Detroit called "Roast". I have to imagine that place is amazing as well...
