Where to install the dish?

Hi guys, first time posting here, so excuse my ignorance.

I have been a D* sub for many years and have an old dual lnb dish. My dish is mounted on a specially made block on the side of my house, with a part of a wall blocking the elements (wind, rain, etc.). It is only about 7 feet off the ground. I currently get great reception of all channels. I live near Seattle and so we're due to get local HD shortly. My question is, when I upgrade to the AT9 dish, will I be able to mount it in the same location? It's in a great spot now, sort of hidden from view from the street. I don't want to have to move it higher above the ground, where it becomes more visible to the neighborhood or worse yet, have to mount it on my roof. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I respectfully disagree.

You should be fine at 99W, just make sure that 110 and 119 are clear. 119 will be about 12-15 degrees lower in elevation.

It might be, but it is closed to three feet away from the wall and nearly perpendicular to the mount. Two degrees of arc would not cause it to be blocked by the eave of the roof. 10 degrees, maybe.

As I said before, I'd worry more about the elevation at 119 and it being 18 degrees of horizontal swing away.

the 119 is to the RIGHT with your back to the dish and IT IS NOT 12 degrees LOWER! who told you that??

and grydlok is right id worry more about the 99.

move it to the roof , right above where it is, you will be OK.

2 degrees to the left of the dish when viewing from the rear is all that needed. Why not place a protractor against the LNB arm and see what's in the way? You could even cross and fold a piece of paper about 5 times until you have a triangle of several degrees and lay that against the LNB arm for sighting.

I have not saw anyone post anything about the gutter possibility of hitting the dish if the AT9 was put in the current spot as his round dish. I say do like dragon suggest and move it to the roof.

Yes, the dish is slightly pointed towards the wall. I'll get a protractor and check my line of sight. I too, am more worried about elevation than the wall because there are some homes and trees directly facing the dish and I live in the north (just outside of Seattle).

But like I said in my earlier post, if at all possible, I do not want to put it on the roof.

all of the above... well except I don't know what WAF means.

I remodeled my house recently and have a brand new roof. So yeah, I'm a little worried about getting a leak with a roof mount.

Also, That part of the house is below grade and I also have a fence, so right now the dish is pretty much hidden from the street.

Lots of my neighbors have dishes mounted on their roofs and personally, I think it's ugly.

The wall partially protects the dish from the elements (wind, rain and sun). Y'all know that Seattle rains a lot. Well, it also can get very windy during this time of the year.

I understand your reasons for the placement now. If it works where it is why change. I get it.
