Fiber has adistance limitI've wondered why a place in the outskirts that has electricity can't get fiber. The polls exist and running a straight shot fiber line has to be easier and cheaper than a whole city build out.

Even so, landline service is definitely going away, mandated or not.Electricity is a mandated utility, just like landline phone service. They have to provide it to everybody. Broadband is not.

Another post by Juan, where he will never post evidence that what he is posting is true, then he will double down, while still being incorrect, after that, will run from the thread.Actually it's growing again
Not as much profit, if you run a Fiber or other line miles out to a road and it only has a few people on it.I've wondered why a place in the outskirts that has electricity can't get fiber. So does Copper.Fiber has adistance limit
The AT&T credo is not copper or fiber, it is 5G.Well, maybe then AT&T will finally replace our copper with fiber optics. I've been waiting for many years, they stopped fiber deployment about a block from our house.

The Fiber Companies wouldn't be doing the spotting, it would be the companies that do line spotting. There are three fiber companies installing here. All three of them were ordered by the city to stop work. Apparently the contractors they were using were causing a lot of property damage. Everything from severing water, sewage, natural gas lines etc. to digging up people's yard and not finishing the job. That was a few weeks ago and I think they are back in compliance now. In fact, I saw workers with metal detectors marking in the street in front of my house yesterday.
