I just right-mouse click on the Windows icon in the lower-left and up pops enough of the "start" menu that I can do what I need in Windows 8.x, but I think 8.1 would be livable if someone forced a Surface 3 at me.
I even tried it on a desktop just to see if we'd face a user revolt if we tried pushing it out with the new desktop deployments. After playing with it a week, I re-imaged the PC with Windows 7. I just can't shake the Windows 2.0 look of the flattened GUI. I just don't know why every other GUI decided to become more like Windows Phone/Win 8/Metro (yes, I'm looking at you, iOS!)
